PA broadened access in just the last day. And CVS and Walgreens have now updated their websites so that you are no longer blocked from making an appointment if you are in PA.

There were 3 #HandsOff protests in #Pittsburgh today, with the smallest one held later in the day in Shadyside. Still had a few hundred people show up - despite the rainy weather!

A fact sheet for Pittsburgh that is in a somewhat similar layout and with similar sections to the state-focused NIH fact sheets available from United for Medical Research. There is text in the top left noting the amount awarded by NIH to Pittsburgh institutions in FY2024 ($745,466,969). There are also 3 bulleted sections that: show a breakdown for Pitt, Carnegie-Mellon, and Duquesne; list a few research areas where Pittsburgh ranks in the top 10 for funding (internal medicine, cancer, neurosciences), and a section that includes annual mortality rates for select diseases in Allegheny County.

If you are so inclined, you can use the BRIMR rankings along with info from your state or local health department to create a city-specific fact sheet similar to what UMR has available for each state. Here's one I put together for #Pittsburgh:

I'm no longer in DC but will happily be taking part in the rally in #Pittsburgh. I'll be the one in an original #MarchForScience t-shirt and some combination of STEM buttons πŸ˜·πŸ˜€

The SIFT method - STOP, Investigate the source, Find better coverage, Trace claims, quotes & media

Information hygiene request - please circulate & take action.

I’m getting bombarded with frantic fragments.

Information flow is crucial right now, and every link in the chain matters. This is a concrete place where you can play a massive role in improving transmission.

Start with SIFT method:

My own flow is always:

CLARIFY - do I understand this?

CONFIRM - is it correct & still current?

CONDENSE - strip out excess

CONVEY - get it into the right hands, make sure they know priority

None of these steps are easy right now.

Thank you so much for doing your part.

(with things like the Adult Vaccine Assessment Tool & Childhood Vaccine Quiz no longer available) and it is likely that much of what is currently accessible will disappear soon (or be replaced with non-scientific-based content/outright disinformation).

Lots of good info in this thread. At a minimum, I highly recommend downloading the PDFs in the first post and then talking to your health care provider about getting up-to-date on all your vaccines in the near future. Note that most interactive tools on CDC sites had already been removed 1/

1. Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%.

I want to provide some context on what that means and why it matters.
