"As we prepare to fly the flag of St George both on 23rd April and this summer in support of our football team, it’s a great opportunity to remember that we are England united – united across difference, in service of our neighbour, a service at the heart of our Christian heritage.” - Bishop Barry Hill

Ahead of St George's Day on 23 April, the Church of England is sharing helpful resources for churches and groups, including prayers, readings, and materials to explore who St George was and what his story can still teach us today.

His testimony is a reminder that God is not absent in our most painful moments, and we can be held by His presence in the hardest of times. We pray this message encourages you, and we invite you to share in the comments below about a time when you knew God was with you. 🙏 | Thy Kingdom Come ⭐️ The next testimony in our God With Us series comes from The Right Reverend Barry Hill, The Bishop of Whitby in the Diocese of York, who reflects on one of the hardest points in his life and the...

Do all dogs go away to some sort of secret summer school together to learn how to eat all the food and spit out the tiny tablet to keep them alive in the middle of steak?! Three meats, two creams, a pate and half an hour where I was meant to be doing something else later....

A Hidden Holy Well in an Ancient Churchyard — and Why It Still Matters
A Hidden Holy Well in an Ancient Churchyard — and Why It Still Matters YouTube video by Oliver Murray

Enjoyed the recent TV series Pilgrimage?!

Then well worth watching this video on the holy well at Hinderwell @dioceseofyork.bsky.social, written and filmed by one of our vicars in training, Oliver, and from which I reminded pilgrims of our baptism on Easter Sunday sunrise.

RIP Roger: a man of great faith who helped so many of us know more of what God is like. Overcame blindness to be Prof of Religious Studies, Vice President of the Prayer Book Society, Reader of 60 years. Wise enough to know it was his faith in Jesus Christ by which he approaches the throne of grace.

Fabulous. Will be praying that the same Spirit of God that fell on Bezalel and is with us through Jesus' resurrection and Pentecost will fill you all afresh for creativity, witness and wonder.

Alleluia! Christ is risen & nothing will ever be the same again.

The Good Shepherd doesn't come back to us as he was, but goes ahead of us. He doesn't return our life but breaks thru to real life & invites us to join him in faith, hope and trust.

A joy to celebrate with churches on Sandsend beach.

A moving day of services as the Whitby pilgrimage continues. We recalled how outrage at the world not being as it was meant to be, drove Jesus to the cross out of love for the world, sacrificing everything so thru the mercy of God we can be made righteous and know life, freedom, hope & salvation.

Leading compline after stripping the church this evening was something very special. A bare church. I can't actually explain the feeling but it was extraordinary

Thankfully, at it's core, it's never been about the numbers, which many of us have questioned from day one, but about the unquestionable move of God amongst young people. Literally every week I'm approached by people in their 20s who are new to faith & want to share the most amazing stories of how.
