Interesting. Believe you're spot on about the tourism. A friend who lives in China visited but I don't know anyone else who has. It's not that easy necessarily if you are Chinese to go to Thailand or similar, and there is the obvious friction for people coming into China too.

I liked this piece. The description of the attack in Heaton Manchester is not really accurate (lone attacker, shots were fired by the police). In the interest of accuracy be good to fix it.

Not sure. But I do know I was completely captured by the music papers, who were able to convince me that I didn't like things I otherwise would have and vice versa

You must have been staring at someone else. Mani definitely not in the Scream in 1992.

Bought this recently when Amazon gifted me some credit, not found the 3.5 hours to watch it yet though! Can believe it though, love Manchester By The Sea

The Assistant. I watched it for the 1st time last year, not expecting much given it had caught the zeitgeist but I hadn't really heard it spoken of again. I thought the atmosphere and acting were brilliant.

The whole world will be your enemy, prince with a thousand enemies. And when they catch you, they will smash you with a hammer. But first they must catch you.

Multicoloured angel tears. You have probably seen it actually. Although I don't think it's that easy to discern what exactly is being represented. Or that it's themed around a House record

I have a t-shirt inspired by that record

Social media means I consume more news than is good for me, but rewards me with people making comedy out of it. And frankly a lot of this would be much harder to take otherwise

I placed one bet with bet365, was successful, got thrown out. Just to say the winning streak can be one bet.

A very enjoyable thread. But it has made me concerned about that Seinfeld rewatch I was considering.

The Sopranos. Hits so much sadder watching at 40 than at 20.

Labour needs a coup. Just a cheeky little coup

Came here to say he may have done that to evade filters and Zoe G got it so maybe he was right. He is wrong about everything else though.

A friend of mine had persistent insomnia for years. He managed to get prescribed melatonin. Completely changed his life around. He was basically struggling in all areas of life. And now he is better. It has been great to see.

I mean the whole framing of the story is a bit strange. Talking about "Henry's" feeling hard done by. But there aren't any direct quotes or even any hints he has spoken to any to arrive at this conclusion.

There's a shorter more interesting story trying to get out. This feels like the correct takeaway bsky.app/profile/anth...

Find that shooting in Minnesota upsetting...

I mean I'm never a fan of shootings, but this one more than usual.

Heimat is nine hours and I wouldn't trim any of it. But what I would do is watch it in its serial format like most people.

Huh.. I liked that film but your comments make me wonder if I would on a rewatch now. I think at the time the style of film making felt fresh. Same for Pushing Tin and Grosse Pointe Blank.
Die My Love could be an answer to this!

Err... I didn't write any abuse or harassment but I did write something that contained the word 'p1ss' is BlueSky just being very prudeish?

I got gently ribbed by a train guard once for reading the FT. Commiserating with me for the difficulty of turning the pages in a tight space. Fairly sure he was taking the piss 😁

I suppose I was finding the rage invigorating. Which if directed differently could easily leave you feeling quite the opposite.

All I want to do is fight this insanity, there are so many people like me, and it feels like most of the actual elected leaders who are supposed to be channeling this desire to resist are sitting on my head scolding me. PUT US IN THE GAME

The US is collapsing into fascism and going to war with Europe and the opposition party is like “I’m here to talk about the important thing: how your average grocery bill has risen by two dollars over the last year, which I also have no plan or ability to fix”

Will having a multi post meltdown (justifiably) has actually left me feeling better about things.

It’s called ‘vs code’ because the code is an enemy you are fighting

I don't actually remember the end of The Good Place. But I will say the final ep of the 1st season had my jaw drop. Because, sitcoms aren't supposed to have twists like that.
