A reminder while Republicans bitch about Dems finishing the redistricting fight they started: they have full control of gov’t— they can pass a law banning gerrymandering any time they want. They won’t. Republicans aren’t mad gerrymandering exists; they’re mad that they’re not the only ones using it.

With the VA yes vote, Democrats will emerge with +1 House seat in the redistricting wars Trump kicked off last summer. They are very, very likely to win back the House in November
Screenshot of Zachary Donnini's tweet saying that YES will win by 4-4.5 percentage points
From Zachary Donnini: “YES is currently on track to win by roughly 4–4.5...Accounting for provisional and late-arriving mail ballots, which are expected to modestly favor YES, the final margin is likely to increase by approximately 0.4 points after Election Night.” bluevirginia.us/2026/04/live...
Yup.
It’s the every election story in the commonwealth.
So much false equivalence in media on gerrymandering in Texas vs California & Virginia. California and Virginia maps approved by the voters. That's a huge difference not enough people pointing out
It wasn’t pretty, but a win’s a win
Virginia Dems successfully get voters to back their 10-1 map
Virginia GOP put up good fight, but can’t overcome national environment
BUT next stop is Virginia Supreme Court
Dems poised to pick up 4 seats in Virginia if legal challenges fail
We finally have what you've all been waiting for: the final result of Loudoun County.
(Anyone who followed the 2024 count remembers Loudoun.)
The YES won by 21%, with 144K ballots counted.
A very strong result (as we're seeing throughout NoVa): Spanberger won here by 29%, and Jones by only 19%.
Fairfax County still at only 29% counted so … yeah
At 8:16 pm only 29%of the ballots had been counted in Fairfax County.
NEWS: A federal judge has saved the 15th Street protected bike lane (for now), saying the decision to remove the lane running from Constitution Avenue to the Tidal Basin was "arbitrary and capricious and not the result of reasoned decision-making." It was to be removed this week.
My mother will be THRILLED!!
Hegseth has just proudly announced on Twitter that flu vaccines will no longer be mandatory for US Servicemembers.
Before The Regime took power, the DoD correctly said that vaccine refusal is a national security threat.
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the jury verdict and $14 million award against Denver, finding the city is liable for the police's use of “unconstitutional force” against 12 protesters during George Floyd demonstrations in 2020 // Story by @katielang.bsky.social
NEW—I got an exclusive excerpt from a USAID whistleblower's new book that made me gasp multiple times. It details Trump's dismantling of the humanitarian aid agency & his team/DOGE's shocking ignorance to public health.
'Into the Wood Chipper' by Nicholas Enrich is out tomorrow. Read excerpt here:
Throwback Tuesday
This year, supreme court justices who have upheld restrictions on abortion and reproductive rights are up for reelection in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Our new guide has more:
While we’re waiting for Virginia anyway, you can freshen up on why the SCOTUS decision matters with this great piece. boltsmag.org/voting-right...
I'm sure everyone is impatient... but we're basically on Fairfax County time at this point.
Virginia's biggest county (by far) has hundreds of thousands of ballots to report, & this is a massively blue county. That's the story at this moment.
1. The central claim in the indictment of SPLC is a lie.
The DOJ/FBI accuse SPLC of lying to donors about seeking to “dismantle” extremist groups while secretly funding them. But the funds were used to infiltrate & help law enforcement dismantle these groups. Kash Patel knows this is the truth…
Let's be clear: The Trump Admin's vendetta against the SPLC is a sign of how impactful their work is.
The SPLC has been at the forefront of exposing some of America's most notorious hate groups, like the KKK. The fact that the Trump Admin feels threatened by that speaks volumes.
This is truly outrageous.
Not surprising
Saw yes signs out near Gainesville two weeks ago so…I think yes wins.
So far, the 'yes' is also doing better than Jay Jones in other areas of NoVa, Arlington and Loudoun Couty
Now, Fairfax County has just started reporting. This is what powers Democratic statewide wins, especially in tight races; we'll know soon if something is off for the yes.
mr. caution, army veteran, is outraged:
"You know who the first president to make vaccines mandatory was? George fucking Washington!!!!"
