I CAN FINALLY BREATHE AGAIN
Posts by hawk
I have officially done and seen everything Final Fantasy VII has to offer with the exception of beating Ruby and Emerald Weapon. Now to grind out the materia and gil achievements for the next 10-15 hours.
I literally blinked and I won
It turns out if you feed your gold chocobo x50 Sylkis Greens they just become invincible
So apparently if you beat up the 64th floor vending machine during your first foray into the Shinra Building, you can return later (just before the Proud Clod fight), beat it up again, and you can get a Mind Source and Speed Source. Never knew that.
hi if anyone would like a silly little text guide I captioned over my actual gameplay, here you go. ~45 minutes to get this accomplished from scratch.
And not really like this dev team's M.O. thus far, honestly. But hey, maybe I'm giving them too much credit. Part 3 still has to come out.
The issue is that if it's external, one of two things has to be true:
1). Either Remake retconned the idea of Cloud fighting Sephiroth in his subconscious at the end of OG, or
2). The shot-for-shot recreation of the final fight was literally just fanservice. π« Which feels...not amazing.
With how the LS functions, not mutually exclusiveβand there's some vagueness in his wording that I could punch holes inβbut yeah, I could see how this answer makes the EoC feel more external than potentially internal.
Anyway, hi. Going to attempt to be more active again.

It's Friday night baby
A much more coherent(???) summary of my thoughts
Okay I haven't started shouting like an insane person yet but many many things are starting to make way too much sense
From a storytelling perspective, I feel like showing the empty materia at the end just before seeing the BM slotted into the Buster Sword would also make a lot of sense if they're somehow thematically antithetical to one another.

Yeah hi so this is the Edge of Creation
illustration inspired by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's 1891 short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" depicting a woman touching sickly yellow torn wallpaper on a wall while shadowy hands reach toward her. There is another tall shadow of a figure on the wall and both figures look toward the viewer.
"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight."
I made a "Yellow Wallpaper" piece back in 2017, but I re-read the story over the weekend and wanted to try again. Much happier with this version π€
Feel free to tell me I've lost my mind
I'm actually sitting here trying to figure out why anyone assumed it was a space/location somehow extrinsic from Cloud. Myself included. It's the exact same imagery.
Wait. The final battle with Sephiroth happens in Cloud's subconscious, yeah? So doesn't it stand to reason that the Edge of Creation actually exists within Cloud's psyche? Something something "a clash of ideals between a reality that embraces death and one that doesn't"? #theorycrafting
I need to know why OP thought someone would pay $10 for a headless and semi-limbless Cloud with paint damage
This is the best answer
The entire back half of chapter 9, too. And parts of chapter 8. Really, chapters 4-10 are just a masterclass inβ¦everything ever? Basically perfect?
Honestly, I think the Highest High I could possibly experience in part 3 is another Jenova Emergent moment. Between the music, her being way more freaky than I thought Square was willing to make her, and everything about the lead-in cutscene, justβ man.
Anyway I'm going for the Materia Overlord achievement in OG andβ
You can literally track my eras of peak depression by how hard I fixate on FFVII on the backswing
FIVE !!!!! DISCS
oh I'm in heaven.
Welp. Junon friends in part 3 confirmed.
