The implicit media consensus is that urban voters should not be able to overrule rural voters, but that rural voters should be able to overrule urban voters, an assumption so axiomatic and unquestionable that nobody even understands they're making it.

Here's how the big 5 NoVa localities voted:
Yes outran Harris in all of them
(and asterisk on 2026 because the Yes margin could tick up a little with provisionals and late mail)
Ok last post
Good reminder that Black, Asian, and Hispanic voters big part of Virginia Dem coalition
Another election showing a shift from 2024
Also reason why Yes won
Also mailers invoking Jim Crow for No didn’t work and probably backfired
every conservative political complaint comes back to "those people shouldn't count because they disagree with me"
I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals
You should have worn larger earrings to take off 😁
You ever try to code switch at work and fail? 😂
Northern Virginia lost *17,000 jobs* in 2025-2026 because of Trump/Musk/DOGE, a big chunk of them in Fairfax County.
Damn straight incel-based unemployment and the concurrent family suffering makes those voters hostile.
Republicans are actively colonizing urban America, specifically Nashville, TN, and disenfranchising Black voters.
I don't want to hear a damn word about white rural voters not feeling represented. bsky.app/profile/tenn...
I'm no longer on Elon's Nazi site, but someone please blow Baseball Crank's tiny seams and tell him that it takes 55% of the vote to amend Colorado's state Constitution and we did it with 62% of the vote for abortion rights - including public insurance coverage for abortion care - in 2024.
Fairfax County's vote on new Virginia map
The Trump administration launched a war against Fairfax County, Virginia, in January 2025. It responded tonight, voting for a new electoral map favoring Dems by 70 to 30 percentage points.
In the worlds of the indominatable VA State Sen Louise Lucas: You started it. We fucking finished it.
Again, for any Republicans bitching about Virginia: what the TN GOP did to Democrat Jim Cooper's Nashville Congressional seat is an abomination beyond measure.
It gave us Andy Ogles.
And now the TN GOP is trying to colonize Nashville entirely and disenfranchise its Black voting population.
Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.
big fucks to peter thiel who sent me 2-3 mailers per day about the no campaign.
Republican money would have been better spent keeping Federal workers employed.
It's also been weird to see adult human beings say "they didn't convince me hard enough to care about the potential loss of democracy, or basic human rights of our neighbors or the threats a second Trump term meant" and not have them understand its them telling on themselves.
I've often compared Virginia to Colorado politically - educated population + lots of Federal employees. And Jefferson County = Fairfax County.
Seeing that tonight as NoVa and laid off, pissed off Federal workers push redistricting over the line per @samshirazi.bsky.social

Yes winning Prince William County early vote big
NOVA anger at DOGE has not gone away
Will continue to haunt Virginia GOP
Prince William County almost 100% in
NOVA carrying Yes on its back to victory
Doing better than Jay Jones last year here
This is very polarized election
Blue areas generally swinging blue
Red areas generally swinging red
Given blue tilt of Virginia, headed towards single digit Yes win
Loudoun is over 90% including all of early vote and mail
Above the 60-40 margin needed for a comfortable Yes win
Will take a while for an official call
But this looks like a redo of the 2025 AG race
Shy Yes voters were a thing
I feel like Sun Tzu really missed out on "Invent Pete Hegseth and give him to the enemy"
Taking off her earrings.
Sledgehammer was released 40 years ago today!
"the weaponization work." Holy crap.
I had the opportunity to confront Pete Hegseth's bigoted spiritual mentor, Pastor Doug Wilson, and call him out on his history of hate, his misreading of the Bible, his hijacking of Jesus, and his cosplay Crusading.
It was worth it.
