An oasis in the desert that is currently the North #Bristol #poetry scene. Bring a poem of your own to read ... and one by someone else (time permitting). Or just come to listen and patronise the bar ...
The first issue of the resurrected poetry journal, Outposts - with a monochrome retro cover - lies on a blue linen runner.
On this #WorldPoetryDay, I’m delighted to commend the resurrected #poetry journal ‘Outposts’. It’s a real honour to have three poems in this first issue, rubbing shoulders with work by so many of my poetry heroes.

I struggle to feel a sense of achievement, but today I’ve had news that's put all of spring – bluebells, chiffchaffs, the lot – in my step: that Peter Roe & Izzy Robertson of Jawbone Journal have nominated my poem, A brief feather confession, for a Forward Prize. Many thanks to them both #poetry
Thrilled to be reading at the launch of @domfishpoet.bsky.social's pamphlet 'Migrations', along with Matthew Barton and Emily Reynolds this Saturday, 2pm, Inn on the Green. Second pub on the right past the daffodils, if you're coming up from town #Bristol #poetry
On Tuesday 24th March at 8pm, I'll be guest-poetting with Dominic Fisher and Martin Rieser at the Berkeley Square Poetry Revue, Cellar Bar, Berkeley Square Hotel, Clifton, BS8 1HB. Music by Guy Calhoun. Tickets £5. If you're in Bristol, do come along. #poetry #bristol
Natalie Diaz reading on a dark stage beneath a projected banner with a photo of herself
Fantastic reading by Natalie Diaz for the @bristolpoetry.bsky.social last night. It’s rare for my attention to be corralled and focused for five minutes, let alone over an hour, but these poems managed it. I made my way home in that holy space that is the aftermath of a great poetry experience.
Don’t forget the Never Too Late Award from the Bridport Prize which recognises entries from writers over 60 across all categories of prizes.

A white goat stands in the middle of a ruined ring of heavy anti-aircraft batteries dating from World War II and now covered in graffiti. The surrounding grass is puddled with rain and there are bare trees behind against a grey sky.

I'm 64. I fall over quite a lot but it's definitely just falling over.
A collaged of thirty-five ladybirds, all spotted on a stretch of stone wall in Bristol, UK on a January afternoon. Also visible, areas of moss, an ivy leaf and a few other small, aphid-type insects.
It's January in the UK and I spotted all of these ladybirds on a stretch of wall today at Snuff Mills in Bristol.
Tell me again how #climatechange is a hoax.
Pulitzer prize-winning poet, Natalie Diaz, will be reading at the Wills Memorial Building, Bristol, at 6.30pm on Tuesday 17th February. Entry: free.
An important poet to hear at any time, but especially now.

I kept having to rewind this because I was getting distracted by the thoughts it provoked, but it’s absolutely life- and death-affirming and will repay the (probably rather shorter) time it might take you to listen.
Patti Smith, hero. And what a great series of podcasts.

Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered by ICE in Minneapolis, was a #poet. Rest in power, Renee.

Securing justice for her grandmother, Louisa, has been transformative for my friend, Mary. Cold cases should never be closed. Murderers should never be able to think they're off the hook.

A little tear? I was bawling.
What a tender, life-affirming experience. Thank you, Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley ❤️ Can't recommend enough x

PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME GO THERE
Thrilled to have some poems in the Street! initiative organised by Ralph Hoyte & @bristollibraries.bsky.social. Here's how to access them; plus, at 1.30, a snatch of my poem about my great-great grandmother who lived on Christmas Steps in 1880s #Bristol #poetry

Sorry about your dog. I wish Cwtch would cuddle up but she just wants to hide away.
Thanks. I used to drive half an hour up the motorway and back at 11.30pm on New Years Eve with my old collie, Ted, who was maddened by them and barked endlessly. Great way for both of us to see in the New Year ... ☹️
Thanks for the tip x
Night after night of ultra-loud fireworks. This is my poor collie, Cwtch, hiding in an old airing cupboard. #fireworks #dogsofbluesky
