The oft-mocked Lomu doesn't feel like that to me. I'm actually not mad if we don't go OL in R1, but I hope we do at some point.

I still think the biggest thing the #49ers will look for in R1 is immediate impact. They're drafting someone to start or as good as, not a dev guy, because this team doesn't need a first-rounder that isn't playing a lot of snaps. In a way that makes DB my most likely spot, but it depends whos there.

We know our guys though, don't we...so it probably will.

But - and I really do feel like I'm saying this til I'm blue in the face - the team needs some young offensive linemen. Brendel and McKivitz will be FAs at the end of the season with no obvious replacements on board, and LG remains open. That isn't to say the 1st round pick will be OL though. #49ers

Trying to decide how Trent's return shifts the #49ers strategy in Round 1. Not entirely sure it does. I now think their most preferred option would be a trade down.

Ha! Sometimes NFL execs say things that make them sound like humans rather than automatons and I love it.

The 4th seems like a good spot. EDGE is not full of game-breaking talents but it is quite deep with developmental guys. Another reason I can't see it in R1. But who knows.

I could see EDGE being the top pick if they end up trading out of 27, yeah, top of 2nd maybe, someone like Lawrence. But they do actually have a ton of options because their depth in a lot of spots ain't great...
