1. Idaho banned the pride flag on government property. So Boise made the pride flag their official city flag, which allowed them to fly it.
Then Idaho banned new city flags.
So in response, Boise has now wrapped the poles themselves in rainbows!

really slow clap when you're the Electronic Frontier Foundation and you are *finally* leaving Twitter. www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...
🚨 Heads up: there's a social engineering attack ongoing against open source developers on Slack

I find Mastodon has more humanness - Bluesky feels more random, harder to connect with people. I check in a lot, but rarely post becuase of that. haven't been to X/Twitter in years, and wish people would stop sharing screen shots of what happens there.
github itself hosts a plethora of RAT repos that are used in attacks like this all the time
Our liberation is all interconnected.
We can't fight for gender justice without defending transgender people.

"the LA case is being considered so important because it advances a new legal theory: that a software product such as a social media app can be defective and cause personal injury."

Please rethink "X first" approach to your audience
The thing is the *entire internet* is different now than it was a decade ago (and, largely, not for the better). All of this is interrelated and there's no going *backwards* only forward. So work for a better future, don't angle for a return to an idealized past.
Here's the thing: there is no going back to a different era of Twitter. This doesn't replace it, Threads doesn't replace it, Twitter doesn't replace it. That era is dead, no return, it was a very fun 5-10 year window or so that dragged on past its prime until it dropped off a cliff.
What a great sales pitch because everyone loves Com Ed and paying the water bill.
People are engaging w/ my #opensource sustainability playbooks (yay) on GitHub, but did you know, they are also presented as services on oss-wishlist.com/catalog ? The catalogue includes description of 'impact' for business perspective to help advocate for budget (employee or funded time)
What seems most lacking is helping users practically understand #AI's output in the context of human values, and giving them the ability to change or challenge what they see; To be actually open
This is what I 'learned by doing'

This Friday: #OpenSource Practitioner Call on Digital Sovereignty in #Canada.
What does #sovereign, #open, shared infrastructure look like for Canada? What can we learn from and build with Europe? We'll look at what's starting to happen ~ challenges and opportunities luma.com/785dboag
i just think if you're biggest critique of AI is about copyright you're telling on yourself.
AI surveillance could end human liberty as we know it
AI decision making threatens permanently bake systemic racism & patriarchy into every aspect of society
"you stole my song" is just... idgaf man
Seems so long ago now but there was a while where most tech luminaries were just sorta awkward weirdos and not full-bore Bond villains.
One of the motivations behind #OpenSource Wishlist was to promote the knowledge that we actually know exactly how to fix MOST sustainability issues, but you need to pay someone to do the work

Trans youth deserve to live free of fear and bullying, especially from the President.
One hundred accounts are behind the majority of conspiracy theory content in Canada #Propaganda #Canada
According to the report, just 100 users are responsible for almost 70 per cent of all online conspiracy claims in Canada.

Two screenshots, one from the Holocaust Encyclopedia, the other from Erin In the Morning. The first: On October 5, 1938, the Reich Ministry of the Interior invalidates all German passports held by Jews. Jews must surrender their old passports, which will become valid only after the letter "J" has been stamped on them. The second, published on February 26, 2026: “Kansas Sends Letters To Trans People Demanding The Immediately Surrender Of Drivers Licenses”. Subtitle: “The legislature did not include a grace period."
History often rhymes with itself.
Girls hockey is also quite toxic, it's a whole thing with hockey. It's our sport, but we ignore a lot as part of that (parents and coaches especially)
Not sure if I'm getting this right yet, but it does seem like a rupture is imminent for #opensource and focusing on the human contract over profit/ power is going to be (never more) important. Holding a call to talk about that March 13 (linked at bottom)
