The battered flag at the RSA flats on Sale St has finally been replaced. The blue now honours the harbour beyond.

Well done, Somebody.

Never think that the things you do for your community go unnoticed.

I'm the same with my poetry. I neither want to please the masses, nor become some darling to the Literati. Both would bore the tits off of me.

Mucking-out day for stuff I've had in storage.

An entire day of "I can't believe I used to fit that and STILL thought I was fat!"

This is a near-perfect piece of art. The restraint and how it manages to turn rock into mirror – very moving.

And yet... oh boy, I really am going to hell.

SIGH.

This week's theme seems to be: Guys Who Ghosted After They Got What They Wanted Come Crawling Back Because They Want More.

With peace and love, heck no. Make better friends with your hand or find another fool.

Whenever I start to doubt whether 7-year-old me would be proud of grown-up me, I think about describing to her all the books I've read and smelt and collected. She'd be pretty impressed, and that makes me feel like I've honoured her.

Sex and the Suburbs – Remembering ‘J’ Join Holly as she searches east Auckland for love and connection. In which Holly remembers ‘J’. WARNING: This column by Holly references sexual assault. Thanks to Artemis II coverage, TIL that Americans pronounce Nutella as Noo-tella.

Stop trying, my star-spangled friends. Your country is f**ked enough, right now.

In the past week, I've received praise from one of Aotearoa's most incredible poets AND a really-real journalist I've long admired.

I may still be broke but my head is SO big right now, y'all.

I'm not a cookie person, but this does make me crave a good old English Spotted Dick.

I just wrote a column on SA yesterday, although i doubt i e articulatedsome of these issues as well as you have.

Like you, I'm all for restorative justice and giving people the opportunity to do better. The other side of me, perhaps less gracious, is screaming "Burn the f***ing boy's club!"

Because if you don't ask, you don't get:

My column, Sex & the Suburbs, needs a regular advertiser.

If I had my way, you'd pay for it, we'd thank you in a caption, then you'd donate the adspace to charity.

Failing that, if you think my audience might be your audience, DM me to discuss.

Thanks!

Remorse would = accepting having one's name associated with one's wrongdoing. Remorse would = not just paying the court imposed fine, but donating to sexual harm charities and educating oneself in the long term.

Anyone who understands what real accountability is could see that, surely?

What gets me is the refrain in those letters (as reported in NZH) of how he's remorseful and wants to make good.

Remorse ≠ seeking permanent name suppression and discharge without conviction.

In the words of James K. Baxter:

Alone we are born
And die alone;
Yet see the red-gold cirrus
Over snow-mountain shine.

Upon the upland road
Ride easy, stranger:
Surrender to the sky
Your heart of anger.

That, to me, is as much and element of success as giving and receiving love.

Not a great pic, but it did my heart good to see two grown men frolicking like teenagers at Waipaparoa today.

Wherever you are, I hope you find some fun today.
