Sounds like a win and opportunity for you!

Fair enough! You don’t have to vote for Booker, or other Democrats.

Isnt that good for the non-centrists in the party? Sounds like Booker should be easy to beat.

Good points. I guess I’m worried the NYT times this piece to run to reflect poorly specifically on the Mamdani grocery store roll-out. I kind of think talking earnestly about poverty, hunger, price gouging, etc might be more useful.

I don’t think it’s remotely radical. I think it’s dumb and unserious.

Because I don’t think democratic socialism is a joke. I want us to succeed!

it’s extremely worthwhile goal. it’s not a laugh or a farce.

does this kind of stuff help more zohran’s bloom? i think piker should use more of his energy toward that goal.

but why are we doing our 2am smoke take during the day for a NYT video podcast. like it’s funny and we don’t take the times seriously (and we shouldn’t), but like do we take ourselves seriously? left politics? i think we can really achieve stuff and there’s a time a space for smoke takes (2am)

Sheepish hipster provocation/“irony” remains a perfectly insouciant class affectation and an obnoxious impediment to progressive left politics.

What if I just want to have very mildly naughty stories to tell at dinner parties/“Opinion: The Opinions”?

Try watching his speech, or at least reading the transcript. Let me know if you’d like help finding the cspan link

You can say whatever you like about any D politician and should! That you evidently feel scolded by Booker—he shouldn’t say this mean thing at a D luncheon bc this might embarrass some poor third person, the horror!—is informative.

Try watching the full speech—the cspan transcript you linked to is useful. His football team analogy—in the locker room vs on the field, is his key point.

The gamble has been on Trump pushing D centrists more to the left—Sarandon put it best. The reasoning behind the strategy is understandable. The outcome has not been as hoped for. The lack of the courage of one’s convictions is not very confidence-inspiring—it is revealing.

That’s a misrepresentation of what Booker said. Booker made the point that D partisans who continued to push strong criticism of the general candidate after the conclusion of the primary/selection process, hobbled the candidate in the general. Which was the point of said pressure campaigns.

I’m glad you recognize my point!

More Democrats turning out to vote actually helps a lot with this problem. If a candidate feels more confident in the safety of their seat, they can advocate more for the base.

Vote like authoritarians? If you don’t like candidates who “scold”, you can freely speak out against them and vote for other candidates. Booker does not have say the power (or inclination) to punish you materially if you don’t vote for him.

You can have any ideology you want in America as long as it's misogyny.

You’ve got to try this model out individually, to really get a personal feel for it. That’s really a better metric if you think about it. And maybe it is!

10 hours ago 1 0 0 0

To compensate. As I should. But there might still be valuable information to my potential employer in those metrics, even if not favorable to me, depending very much on the role and duties and so on.

10 hours ago 0 0 0 0

Sure, but I suspect this is also a bit of a sales tactic because the performance on the metrics is not selling it alone. Like if my grades and test scores are only so-so, but I think I’ve got this killer personal story and connection, I definitely want to break this out at my job interview.

*get a feel for. Again the heuristics are necessarily rough, but I‘m presented with a decision to make at the current time, with what tools I currently have available. Of course, I‘d want better tests!

No for sure, but if I get the sense that the error rate is significant, through my necessarily rough heuristics, I might not be super interested in purchasing the product at this time. Let’s say I’m contracting with a firm to design software for me. I might like to get for relative quality of work
