Konnan’s story is becoming more common at animal shelters across Los Angeles, where the only option for abandoned pets is euthanization.
As Mayor, I’ll make sure our shelters are getting the support they need to get these animals out of shelters and into homes.
This is my new friend Konnan, the sweetest 5-year-old doggo who I met at the South Central Animal Shelter yesterday. He needs a home by 5pm today! Maybe it could be yours? 🐾
Christos Anesti! Khristos Voskrese! 🇬🇷Having lived and worshiped with the orthodox community in Greece, I still continue to love celebrating this important holy day. May our city also rise up together with all our diverse faith communities and in the days to come. 🌞
We will always stand with the victims of abuse, especially when perpetrated in roles of public service. We call on Congressman Swalwell to resign from his position and end his bid for CA Governor. Actions must have consequences.
We no longer live in a world where the abhorrent behavior of influential men in positions of power will be tolerated without consequence. Sexual assault and non consensual touch in professional settings is all too common and utterly unacceptable. We must hold abuse of power to account.
The legal blueprint is already here, and now we can expand social housing in beautiful, innovative ways.
It’s time to end the cycle of displacement in Los Angeles. To read more about our full platform that ensures housing for all, visit raeforla.com 🌞
a law that Rae was instrumental in making happen as a statewide housing organizer. SB 555 codifies social housing as permanently affordable, publicly owned, mixed-income, and with just-cause protections and resident governance built into its foundation.
Families in our city are being actively displaced and told that stability in the city they’ve built roots in is no longer possible. We asked a student artist to reimagine a vacant, publicly owned plot of land here in downtown Los Angeles. California took a historic step in 2023 when SB 555 passed;

We’re told to work within systems that were never built with us in mind. I'm running for mayor because Los Angeles is ready for transformative change. A city where housing is a right, where dignity is shared, and where every person who calls this place home is treated like they belong.

It was an honor to sit down with the esteemed Theo Henderson on We The Unhoused—a show that leads with truth, courage, and a deep commitment to our most vulnerable constituents. Thank you, Theo, for holding space for these conversations with such care and integrity.
Ending homelessness means stopping displacement before it starts, once and for all.

For Midnight Books recap with Rae:
We're fighting to expand tenant protections, rental assistance, eviction defense, and free city bus systems so that no Angeleno falls through the cracks again.
Take action now - speak up and name it in plain terms. Call your representatives and demand action before it is too late. NO GENOCIDE IN IRAN! 🇮🇷
But we must never lose sight of our humanity. No matter our religion, our skin color or where we are born, we are connected by our humanness. Let us not become cold and isolated at a time when our empathy is the only remaining tool we have available to us.
…to lay claim to natural resources (oil!) while Americans suffer. War is making us all poor. Our tax dollars are paying for the slaughter of other communities and the elimination of other cultures. Our government lies to us and feeds us a false narrative, defying what we see with our own eyes.
Greater Los Angeles is home to the largest Iranian diaspora, Angelenos whose families are under attack RIGHT NOW in Iran. Regime change should never come at the expense of innocent lives. We must call it what it is - Trump is threatening a genocide of the Iranian people…
Silence in the face of genocide is complicity. We are sick and tired of waking up to the news that our own country is threatening to wipe out one of the oldest civilizations on Earth -- threats delivered by President Trump whose never ending greed has left Americans in constant turmoil.
We need real accountability. My solution is to create a clear, structured pathway for unhoused individuals to access permanent housing and long-term support.
Temporary fixes aren’t solving the crisis; we need real solutions that actually get people off the streets for good.
LA has already spent over $300 million on this program, yet the outcomes are not delivering the solutions our unhoused community needs.
Individuals in this program don’t have access to the social services they need, and there’s no clear path to permanent housing.
🚨 Inside Safe is NOT working 🚨
Inside Safe is a costly band-aid solution to our homelessness crisis that only benefits about 5% of participants.
The negligence and greed of these landlords is shameful. Let this be a warning to them: when Mayor Rae’s in charge, the party is over. Housing is a human right. We will not stop fighting alongside these families until justice is done. 🌞
These are families with children. Seniors. People with disabilities. These are your neighbors. All too often, our system treats their pain as a necessary sacrifice so that a few rich men can get even richer. No more.
The residents of this 39th Street apartment complex want what many of us take for granted: a roof over their heads.
Unfortunately, their landlord has refused to make necessary repairs to their homes for years, choosing instead to evict them so he can cash out on their suffering.

This week, we have several opportunities for you to come canvass! Meet us in the valley, in LA, or even beach side, to help us spread the word. No experience needed, we’ll train you, provide you with resources, and pair you with a seasoned volunteer! Showing up is all it takes 📋💗
As your Mayor, I pledge to keep that momentum going. Together, we can build a city where tenants' rights come first. 🌞
That's why I'm so proud to have worked with Mike Bonin on the LA County eviction moratorium, legislation which kept the most vulnerable Angelenos from suffering homelessness during a time of unprecedented crisis.
We've got a message for City Hall: housing is a human right, not an investment vehicle. 📢
A system that allows landlords to kick tenants out onto the street in the midst of an ongoing pandemic is a broken system.
