Of course, because [checks notes] something about Lincoln. And, uh, Strom Thurmond.

When republicans do it it’s democracy, when dems do it it’s slavery
Has not the entire argument in favor of various gerrymanders of the past been “These aren’t racial gerrymanders; they are political gerrymanders and those are absolutely fine”? Because, well. If you win that argument, surely you anticipate this result.
I think the gerrymandering race to the bottom is genuinely bad and undemocratic and unfortunately what the dems are doing is the least bad of the bad options available.
You can’t do that to rural voters! What are they, black people? bsky.app/profile/coll...

Pressed by Laura Ingraham about "folks on the right" who want to see Barack Obama investigated, Acting AG Todd Blanche says "these investigations have to be done in secret"
Hope John Roberts, who assured us that absolute immunity would prevent presidents from going after their predecessors, sees this
Q: Can you explain the computer log in issue? Your lawsuit contends you were not able to log in
PATEL: Survey -- how many of you people believe that's true?
Q: Did you communicate that you thought you were fired?
PATEL: It never happened. You are lying.
Q: The lawsuit says the opposite!

"The entire first quarter already hit rock bottom. If you do not urgently take measures, then by the autumn we will face what happened in 1917."
Fabulous news. Strange how it's not popped up everywhere what a huge shift this is internationally. Thrilled about balcony solar: I saw that for hot water in Greece in the 90s and said why not in Florida? And everywhere?
My hometown of Nashville -- a blue city which went about two-thirds for Harris-Walz in 2024 -- was gerrymandered by the TN GOP into three different districts all represented by Republicans now, so please get in line to complain about how unfair this all is, Virginia Republicans
Salt Lake City has almost twice as many registered Dems as Republicans. But for decades, the districts have been drawn to each take a slice of the city and suburbs.
Utah democrats have suffered for years without any representation in Congress despite controlling the state’s population center.
John Roberts unleashed this, and now John Roberts will have to live with it.

Another major bane of AI generated "art" is that now every artist can become a target of these bad faith inquisitions.
I hate this tech bro world so much.
Not the worst part of this, but telling detail, if true.

After President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Tuesday that repairs had been completed and Ukraine would reopen the Druzhba oil pipeline carrying Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, EU ambassadors today could vote to approve the €90bn EU loan for Kyiv.

Republicans have stopped holding Oversight Committee hearings to help Pam Bondi avoid accountability—enabling the most egregious cover up in American history. What a joke. Here’s what’s going on.
You ever try to code switch at work and fail? 😂
Indeed. Complaints about redistricting are invalid. Republicans did it everywhere and invalidated a Constitutional Amendment so they could do it on explicitly racial lines.
There are two choices: use the same levers of power as Republicans do, or let them win. There is no "principled" opposition.
When I worked on legislation that would make platforms pay journalists for scraping journalism it got called a “link tax,” but when platforms make journalists pay the platform to post links it’s just good ol capitalism.
ENERGY SECRETARY CHRIS WRIGHT: We were proud to have gasoline prices below $2 a gallon earlier this year
HEINRICH: What are they right now?
WRIGHT: Just over $4
HEINRICH: What is diesel?
WRIGHT: Diesel is over $5
HEINRICH: It's closer to $6 in my state
WRIGHT: It's over $8 in California
America does not have a far left movement. Our far-right are fascists. Our center-right are extremist nationalists. Our center-left are classical conservatives. Our far-left are moral centrist moderates. Any objective political compass would place politicians like Sanders or Warren barely left of center A real far-leftist movement would be advocating for forced property seizure by the working-class. Instead our far-left is like "don't let people die in medical poverty, please"
Our political scale has been propagandized by capitalism to make basic empathy a radical political ideology.
But it's not.
The entire barometer is off & a dangerous sociopathy has been the norm for way too long.
That's how we got here: being conditioned not to care about others.
Genuinely hate that I was born too late to try Dr. Nut, the regional almond soda of New Orleans that went out of production in the 70s.
A reminder while Republicans bitch about Dems finishing the redistricting fight they started: they have full control of gov’t— they can pass a law banning gerrymandering any time they want. They won’t. Republicans aren’t mad gerrymandering exists; they’re mad that they’re not the only ones using it.
basically the point of Columbo having "scruffy energy" is not that he is necessarily *messy* or *untidy* (although that is an easy way to visually reinforce that aspect), it is that he is a human terrier nipping at the heels of privilege, and terriers are, by definition, scruffy little buggers
