The act of writing can serve many purposes. It can be used to inform. It can be used to resist. It can be used to heal. Jasmin Graham & I wrote an essay about our terminated NSF grant, and hopefully, it accomplishes some of those goals.

Most of us in higher ed in the US are going to lose something over the next four years (opportunities, or funding, or time). But if we believe universities exist, in part, to preserve historical memory and create a space for dissent, our primary job right now is to fight and take the hit.

I was a baby undergrad…a huge accomplishment for me. My second paper was shark brains. But the lobster paper was instrumental into getting accepted into my doctoral program. 🧠👃 🦞
