The postmortem of the *last* big outage shows that it was because they DOS'd themselves through vibecoded slop.
"Pancreatic cancer mRNA vaccine shows lasting results in an early trial: Scientists caution that more research is needed, but nearly all of the patients who responded to the personalized vaccine are still alive six years later."
Harry Donenfeld was a mobbed-up sleaze who swindled Siegel & Shuster out of their fair share, and then had his legal goon Jack Liebowitz fire them and blackball them.
Donenfeld hated Supes at first btw. He thought the character was childish and ridiculous. The sales figures soon changed his tune.
It was about 44 degrees as these shackled detainees were loaded onto today's ICE Air flight in the pouring rain at MSP.

without lionizing Leo XIV too much, i think people are brought up short by encountering someone in a position of authority who seems to have commitments to stable concepts of right and wrong that supersede class loyalty to other powerful people (which is largely the same as what Dan is saying)
I cannot overstate how profoundly influential Space Ghost Coast to Coast was on my being. When I was a sullen teenager, it was Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and The X-Files that gave me a window into a weird world into which a weird kid like me would someday fit.

That’s stupid thing to say. I was clearly mad from the start of this thread. I didn’t suddenly get mad when your dumb ass showed up.
Exactly one year ago today:
EDITORIAL A tax relief bill — at last But the legislation includes two ill-advised policy forays. By The Editorial BoardUpdated September 30, 2023, 4:00 a.m.
Today's Boston Globe editorial: When times were good, the Massachusetts Legislature was generous, rolling out splashy new programs like free community college and universal school meals. Times are no longer good, and the fiscal 2027 budget proposed by the House Ways and Means Committee on Monday reflects that reality.
The Boston Globe just 3 years ago lobbied for & cheered passage of a $1B tax cut heavily tilted toward the wealthy
Today it blames "austere times" on "splashy new programs like free community college & universal school meals"
Michigan Survey of Consumers February 2026 Data Booklet Chart 2: Index of consumer sentiment within income terciles, 2015 to 2026. In 2015, the top third, middle third, and bottom third income terciles have index values of 100 (top), 95 to 100 (middle), and 85 (bottom), respectively. They drop to around 70 in 2020, recover to 90 (top) and 80 (middle and bottom) in mid-2021, and then fall to 55 (all) in mid-2022. From 2022 through mid-2024, the top income tercile climbs to a high of 85, the middle to a high of 75, and the bottom to a high of 70. In 2025, they drop to 55, and drift slightly apart (55 to 60) through 2026
Chart 4: Index of consumer sentiment within education groups (three month moving averages). Similar to the precious chart, the index value for respondents with a college degree climbed more rapidly and higher between 2022 and mid-2024, then converged with the “some college” line and fell below the “high school or less” line
Chart 5B: Index of consumer sentiment by political party (three month moving averages), 2015 to 2026. Shows sentiment among democrats dropping from 100 in 2024 to 40 in 2025, while sentiment among Republicans increased from 55 in 2024 to 100 in 2025.
People who are rich and/or college educated and/or democrats had disproportionately higher and faster gains in consumer sentiment after the COVID financial shock. Those collapsed after Trump was elected

Have you noticed that they only call it "Obamacare" when they're talking to a right wing crowd? Because otherwise it just reminds people that things were Relatively Okay for Some People under Obama?

Maybe it's the same death ray that Chairface, a villain in The Tick whose head is literally a wooden chair, used in an attempt to carve his name on the Moon. He got to the first 'A' before being thwarted.
Best part: For the rest of the series, when they showed the Moon, it still said "CHA" on it.

Thread.
You wouldn’t believe the number of wrongful convictions and manufactured evidence created to force a plea to a lower felony. Right now, we concentrate on the Death Penalty & Life w/o parole cases for overturning wrongfuls because those people are in peril. But lesser wrongfuls are common.
