Aaah thank you! All credit to our incredible animation partners at @kotlt-animation.bsky.social! :)

Aaah the things we once had to put up with X) It was Quest for Glory that helps teach me proper DOS commands, since it was easier to boot it up from there than going into Windows!
Thank you so much, Undine! Funny enough, Alex Kain--the game director and writer of War of the Western Deep--was Dean's cowriter and story editor on Dust: An Elysian Tail!
I'm not sure if they referenced that one exactly! But I do know our animation director at @kotlt-animation.bsky.social wanted to pull inspiration from authentic sources as they put together the animation move sets for our combat-focused characters!
You absolutely are :) Shadows of Darkness in particular was a huge inspiration for the game structure and forest map, and the combat takes a lot of cues from the series!
Thank you so much, Marco! <3
Aaah thank you so much! :)
We really appreciate that! We’re looking forward to sharing more with everyone! 😊
Thank you so much!! 😊
Yes indeed! :)
Thank you so much!! <3
That's absolutely the idea! :)
We can’t wait to share the next full section of playable gameplay from War of the Western Deep at PAX West this summer! Lots of fun new stuff afoot!
Check out the demo and Wishlist on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2976440/...
Aaah thank you so much!! 😊
We're developing it on PC now, but we're focusing on controller support so we can easily port it to console as well! Planning for the latest Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch consoles at least!
War of the Western Deep is brought to life by far more than its hand-drawn animation and incredible voice cast.
The immersive sound design by Lucas Fehring and incredible musical score by @nolanmarkey.bsky.social (presented here) are absolutely essential to the experience!
We're thrilled to announce that @luciendodge.bsky.social has joined the voice cast of War of the Western Deep!
It has been so much fun working with Lucien again after his incredible work on Dust: An Elysian Tail, and we think folks will love his take on this gruff canid soldier!
Hi Erik! We’re as excited as anyone to be able to give a firm release date, but the truth is it’s hard to pin it down at this point! We’re saying 2027 for now, and if we have a better idea we’ll let folks know! :)
You won't need the latest technologies or snazzy 3DFX accelerator cards to experience War of the Western Deep exactly as intended.
Turns out one of the best ways to future-proof your game is to embrace the oldest techniques and make them part of your visual identity.
I think we're going to see even more stories like this over the next year.
Good.
We're recording the VO for this grumpy guy today! We think you'll love who we have doing it :)
This (still very WIP) battle is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL in our upcoming PAX West demo. Mirren can either bribe this soldier or draw her blade and fight!
Wishlist today! store.steampowered.com/app/2976440/...
We're SO excited to announce that Maggie Robertson has joined our incredible voice cast for War of the Western Deep!
Maggie has done some absolutely amazing work bringing Skora to life and we can't wait to share more with you in the coming weeks!
We're excited to be able to share the latest page of Beyond the Western Deep this weekend!
We know a lot of folks have been curious about tamian treewalker hunts since we first mentioned them in the prologue. Well, they're pretty intense!
It's been a long time, but we're happy to reveal a NEW PAGE of Beyond the Western Deep will be posted up this Saturday!
Crim probably isn't too thrilled, though. Find out what happens next this weekend!
To all our friends currently contending with Winter Storm Fern, we hope you're staying safe and warm!
You can find me on the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV in Bungie's new game, @MarathonTheGame, coming soon! Thanks to @bungie.net, @thehalpnetwork.bsky.social, and @eliastoufexis.bsky.social for the opportunity! So excited for you all to be able to play this!
Today's indie game: War of the Western Deep (sunsgrove.games). Currently just a demo on Steam, but a competent old-school LucasArts style graphic adventure, with gorgeous art. For people nostalgic for those days, this is one to keep an eye on (among many other graphic adventures in IGF this year).
Fortunately for Mirren they're not currently in the plan :)
Mirren DID mention brush spiders in our initial PAX demo! They’re quite the threat on the Border Coast!
