ssh is an obscure but widely-deployed command. It stands for Secure Snake Home and was made in the 90s to securely play snake online
I made a massively multiplayer backend for it with support for thousands of concurrent snake players
ssh snakes.run to join!

I really like this histogram style! Drawing attention to the y-axis while maintaining the vertical leading lines that help orient the x-axis - so clean and elegant :D
🃏 what if you could turn 'ideation' itself into a game? what are the mechanics? the systems? the underlying physics?
welcome to part one of me trying to reverse engineer my imagination
A postcard design that says, "i want to go to there" and shows a round white cat on a mountain pointing at another mountain.
i want to go to there
A postcard design that says "haven't I already been here" and shows the cat pondering an area filled with sparkles
haven't I already been here?
A postcard design that says, "it is time to start building trails" and features a cartoon cat walking on a hill with a stick
it is time to start building trails
An arrangement of three postcard designs. The first one says, "it is time to start building trails" and features a cartoon cat walking on a hill with a stick; the second one says, "haven't I already been here" and shows the cat pondering an area filled with sparkles; the third one says, "i want to go to there" and shows the cat on a mountain pointing at another mountain.
Designs!

great articulation of this concept! big agree with everything here - I particularly resonate with starting at the far ends of the spectrum, and increasingly moving towards the center over time
a diagram from my recent substack post 'The Ambiguity Spectrum' that plots various activities or headspaces on a continuous spectrum from vibes to logic
how much ambiguity can you tolerate? how much SHOULD you tolerate? 🤔

A 2x2 grid of four chessboards, where each board is filled with alternating black and white pieces of the same kind: knights, queens, bishops, rooks.
my baby
This website is awesome and, amazingly, has rollback netcode, which makes Chess MMO PvP feel shocking good lmao
Blaseball is back ??
Would love for Blender’s data viz capabilities to be built out more, I think there’s a ton of potential for 3D viz, but the current geometry nodes approaches feel so hacky/have a learning curve
I‘ve really enjoyed using Python to generate visuals but it just doesn’t scale :’(
HBD!
A postcard with the text "it is time to keep going"

Lovely!
A postcard with the text "it is time to keep going". There is a small white cartoon cat making a salute, standing on pixel art, surrounded by pixel art foliage.
it is time to keep going
A postcard with the text "where do you go" in the top left and the text "with nowhere to go?" in the bottom right. In the center is a small white cartoon cat, who is surrounded by a rainbow assortment of simple shapes.
where do you go with nowhere to go?
A postcard with a beige background and the text "it is time to rest". There is a small white cartoon cat that appears to be laying down on a star that has the image of a forest as its background.
it is time to rest
Congrats!
I do not believe that people put up with things forever, there are boiling points, right? the shifts are slow, then fast, and then we see how it turns out
recommendation systems will continue to be the bulk of how people find things, but a single friend's thoughts hit deeper and more accurately, several notches above what algos achieve
imo there is currently a big interaction gap here that was created during the last major spike in internet adoption
I see people talk about how the tech giants have immense power with their algos and can exploit behavior with wild efficiency
but, idk, while big data enabled a lot of scale, I think there's been a soft cap on its quality for a while now that is unmatched by "organic" human network effects
I think that we are headed towards an era of pulling away from big internet, now that folks have experienced a healthy dose of its limitations
very curious to see what the web will look like in the next 5-10 years
