The Monday Mail is back.

This week I have written about the Sussex maternity review, and the welcome news that Donna Ockenden has been appointed to lead this work after two years of campaigning by the 'Truth for our Babies' families.

The obtaining of transcripts from family courts can be the difference between justice and injustice, and long delays are pushing people into financial hardship.

I'm glad to hear the government is working on it but I will keep pushing Ministers to ensure change is achieved as fast as possible.

Rising fuel prices and soaring bills due to the conflict in the Middle East are hitting families hard, especially those in rural communities who rely on heating oil.

As I said recently on BBC Politics SE, any support for rising costs must include those who aren’t connected to the National Grid.

Last year Keir Starmer said Brits would "sail through" EU e-gates. The chaos this week shows that was a lie.

Long queues at airports are the latest symbol of the Brexit disaster – and Labour’s failure to fix it.

Nice to see the voters in Hungary working out the truth on Orban and his ties to other countries bad actors…

Trump, Putin, Farage… your boy took a hell of a beating.

Congratulations to the people of Hungary for showing that populist extremists can be defeated – even despite Donald Trump’s best efforts.

The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world.

MP rejects Palantir’s claims that criticism of NHS England deal is ‘ideologically motivated’ Committee says it was appropriate for government to seek guidance on way out of £330m deal with US data company

💽 "Martin Wrigley, a Liberal Democrat member of the committee and an MP who has encouraged the [Palantir] contract’s termination, has called on the government to procure a new consortium of UK tech experts to build a platform for the NHS - www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

It's incredibly stupid to offer support to everybody during a fuel crisis:

1. It directs more money to richer people.

2. This increases use of fossil fuels.

3. It puts more stress on government finances - meaning less money for critical things like cutting poverty.

Trump’s illegal war is hitting our economy, pushing up inflation and deepening the cost of living crisis.

We shouldn’t be rewarding that behaviour with a state visit.

Did you know that you may be entitled to compensation if your business is affected by roadworks caused by gas or water companies, but not by electricity or telecoms. I keep raising this discrepancy with the Government. It simply doesn't make sense. #LisaSmartMP #HazelGrove

At a time when Trump has launched an illegal war that is devastating the Middle East and pushing up bills for British families, it’s clear this visit should not go ahead.

The elections bill can properly deal with big money in politics by capping donations The government deserves credit for the steps it has taken to reform money in politics. But it needs to do more.

As news slips out from the independent Rycroft Review of foreign financial interference in UK politics, I told Politics Home how - without a donations cap - we are trying to secure the house while the door is left wide open:

This is spot on and seen in the number of council by-elections that end up being Reform vs Lib Dem. Not so much fragmentation as realignment.

A LibDem success! - and a particularly important one when energy security is becoming so important.
