I pulled my childhood stamp collection out of storage and decided some would be great subjects for sketches. Plus, I get to break out my colored pencils which haven't been used in a while. Here are the first three I've done.

I've updated the site to also collect the Daily and Weekly deals from Boardtopia. Their deals are different than the others (Game Nerdz, Cardhaus, etc.) but they're still quite good deals. As a bonus, they sometimes have multiple deals running at once.

Eight small (2.5"x3.5" inches) collages made on bristol board, using a very random collection of paper scraps from magazines, receipts, old books, and random ephemera that I've collected the last few years.

Made some "artist trading card" size collages the last couple of days. 2.5"x3.5" inches is a very small canvas to work on, but the exercise was fun.

Three collages made on index cards. All three are full of multiple scraps of old paper and magazine pieces. The one on the left has the visible word "Benefit," the middle one has the word "Magnificent" showing, and the one on the right has three large letters prominent at the top: "per." Otherwise, it's a random collection of papers with words, music notes, and random colors with torn paper edges.

Three index card collages I put together tonight. I enjoy the small canvas to work on where you aren't able to use as many pieces of paper to fill.

Starting up the weblog again (after 15,000 times restarting it). I have some ideas now on what I'd like to write about. Let's see if I stick to that.

The collage on the left uses an old music page, a piece from an old Polish(?) passport, some wrapping paper, a Jack Kirby comic and some other random scraps. The collage on the right uses a few scraps from old magazines, a Japanese tea wrapper, some packing paper, and a chopsticks wrapper.

It's been a while, but I made a couple of index card collages tonight.

These are not the dots that connect it. Those are the other dots.

The collage on the left has a background at the top of a field of flowers, and at the bottom is a dark blue and dark green. There's a vertical scrap of magazine of a sardine near the middle of the piece, with some text (upside down) that says "FOUND." There are also some random scraps like a "no postage necessary" from a magazine renewal card, and some bits from an old letter and an old calendar. The collage on the right has many scraps of older paper where the background is a photo of a beehive. On top is a half of a woman from an old advertisement, a bit from a canasta scoresheet, and a few pieces from some random comics and kids' books. On the left border is the bolded word "RETURN."

A few more collages from this weekend, using bristol board as a foundation. It's definitely stiffer, but it still bends a bit as I add papers to it. Went to the edges on these pieces.

A new microseason in the "Lesser ripening" (小満 Shōman) division has begun:

Safflowers bloom (紅花栄 Benibana sakau)

This microseason will last until May 30.

The collage on the left uses an old, browned piece of a recipe page as a background with various smaller scraps of paper on top. Some of the highlights are a bit from an old calendar, some balloons from a children's book, a bit of a map of Cuba, and a bit of scrolled text that (I think) reads "time." The collage on the right uses an old doctor's prescription as the background (for "ephedrine" something). On top of that are some scraps of green tissue paper with white polka dots, a bit of a photo of the moon, a raven cut from a bird book, and a strip that says "Country-Inn" from a grocery store flyer. A few other scraps of paper are added on top.

I ordered some bristol board in the hopes that it would serve as a better backing for my collages. It's definitely more stiff, but there's still a bit of warping. Here are two collages from Friday.

There are two collages in this photo. A primary focus in the collage on the left is a scrap of cardboard painted green with a touch of blue. There are various other scraps of older paper from magazines as well as a part of a grocery bag with some green paint on it. The collage on the right has a focus on a cut out oak leaf from a magazine, along with some craft paper with white paint smeared on it. Also, along the bottom of this collage is what looks like a line of dancers in blue and yellow costumes.

A few more collages from this weekend, with a couple of them using some pre-painted craft paper and cardboard. Otherwise, I'm digging as always into my bin of random scraps for papers and color.

Four small, 6"x6" collages using various scraps of paper. No theme with any of them other than trying to center the collage in the center of the square with main older illustrations and painted paper.

Four more 6"x6" mini collages. I'm enjoying trying to limit the amount of scraps I'm using.

The other side of the sign had something referencing Princess Leia, but couldn't read it in time.
