Got to talk at @aidotengineer.bsky.social conf last week about the need for collaborative AI engineering.

All our current coding agents are single player. We're trying to scale up individual productivity, but creating tons of alignment problems in the process.

We have no good tools for...

Powerpoint is NOT a documentation tool. If you have to document things with a lot of text - write a document. If those documents need diagrams, create and insert them.

Also, if you are giving a presentation and I can get all the info from your slides, you used too much text.

Cleaning out the fridge - good.

Cleaning it out because it died…again - bad.

How hard is it to build a reliable refrigerator that isn’t $15k+? I hate that it‘s far cheaper to replace a consumer model every 6-10 years than it is to buy one with a 20-30 year lifespan.

When I was in South MPLS all that awkward stuff (too big, too long, too little used) went on a bookshelf at the bottom of the basement steps. It was my "auxiliary kitchen storage."

The last time we were this close to the moon we were embroiled in an unpopular war and led by a corrupt, criminal president.

We had the good sense to impeach that asshole…may this next part of history rhyme with the last.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of DCTs for this reason. Not sure if it's a tech limitation or an implementation one.

Which e-tron do you have? Most should just do this so long as you don't have auto-hold engaged.

I've got an ID.4 too and do, occasionally, use "B" mode. It's kinda nice in slow-and-go traffic when I have no rear-seat passengers (kids) who are prone to motion sickness.

But, like you, most of the time I just want to coast and not lose energy to the conversion process.

It did.

This! My pet peeve is whenever someone equates 1 pedal driving as an EV must have. Tesla did it because they were too lazy to try and make blended braking work well. 1 pedal is actually less efficient in many situations. No knocks against people who like it, but it isn't "better" or EV table stakes.

The worst part is finding out there are solutions to your issues, but the company (which is the same one that built the product) has blocked them for "security concerns."

Glad you're having success. The filament/decorative bulbs I've purchased are prone to developing an annoying flicker after many months of use.

Got a preferred one? The Feit Electric ones at Menards seem to fail pretty frequently.

Solar energy, battery chemistries, fusion research, carbon capture (if we can get the energy to do it from clean sources), AI (AlphaFold and the sort...not LLMs) for scientific research....

Issue number four of The End Times, sitting on my table.

The latest version of @benjaminpercy.bsky.social’s The End Times made its way through the snow to my side of North End. Time to check in on my fellow townsfolk.

GitHub - pholleran/atom2remarkable Contribute to pholleran/atom2remarkable development by creating an account on GitHub.

I find it easier to read blogs on an e-ink device. Less distraction, more immersion in the content.

To that end, I finally got around to cleaning up and releasing the (admittedly vibe coded) solution I use to push Atom-enabled blogs to my ReMarkable. Check it out: github.com/pholleran/at...

My Menards has a lot of recliners in stock, and sofas. Maybe selection varies by store ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I used to joke that to get healthcare the US should declare war on Canada and then immediately surrender unconditionally. It was only ever meant to be a joke…

Just spent the better part of an hour purging old emails, no longer needed Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, and files in my drive. It's almost as satisfying as purging physical things.

Want to Stop ICE? Go After Its Corporate Collaborators. ICE can’t function without help from the private sector. So we should force the private sector to stop helping.

4/ - As we demand action from our elected officials we also need to demand action from those who fund them. It's our taxpayer money being spent to fund these un-constitutional, un-American, un-accountable goon squads. And it's our consumer dollars that get funneled into campaigns and donations.

3/ - So why the silence? Are they just hoping the dementia-ridden faux-king will toss them some crumbs and/or contracts? Are they content to fight for a slice of a shrinking pie (fewer people with less purchasing power)?

2/ - Fewer people in America mean fewer consumers to buy goods. Fewer people to pay taxes to fund services. Everyone who gets a paycheck pays taxes, even if they're undocumented....though undocumented folks don't get the medicare/medicaid/social security those taxes pay for.

Corporate America's silence is deafening, and confusing from an economics perspective.

We live in a largely service-based, consumerist economy. Labor availability in the service sector is lower than demand. Any reduction to the labor pool will only hurt businesses more.

Twenty years ago I bought a set of All Clad tri-ply stainless steel cookware. I've used it daily since and, unless I warp a piece or two on my induction stove by accidentally heating them too fast, they will out-last me.
