..it surprises me how many people I don’t know well at all come up to me with these types of requests. They know me through social connections or work. Dude, I’m not your tailor. There’s tailors out there who do this as a career who will be glad to take your pants.
We can’t beat ourselves up over things we didn’t realize in the past. Remember our grandmothers were raised not to ever say no or complain. And the stress of that must’ve been overwhelming.
Also, it’s different for family. I do things for my immediate family and they do a lot for me. But…
Apparently people relate to the “I heard you like sewing. Can you fix my?” dilemma. 😂 Most of us would never claim to be as talented as a famous artist, but I like to explain it like: Picasso probably knew how to paint a bathroom wall. But that’s not how he chose to express his art. It’s different.
When you can’t let go of that one piece that you realized too late was out of place…..
I cannot stress this enough if you have a friend or family member who sews. Very few sewists hem pants because they “enjoy sewing.” If they are hemming your pants it’s because they love you. Please remember it’s a chore that no money can offset the time spent on it. Appreciate them accordingly.
