Good morning cuties!

Look I’m on your side here but if I were leaving 45 minutes later I would use those extra 45 minutes for sleeping.
My concerns? practical. Your concerns? Cosplayed moral outrage that gives you a thrill.
A brilliant department of amazing people destroyed, lives upended, careers destroyed, research teams wrecked. All because the government doesn't care and university leadership doesn't value anything beyond income & expenditure. What is the point of a society that doesn't value the arts & humanities?
I think a lot of people overestimate the role ideology/policy plays in picking a candidate and underestimate the role played by “they are the only one who canvassed our building”
They think you're stupid.
If you don't stop hiding behind the block button there will be consequences. You have been warned.
Aside from who started it, states like CA and VA putting a counter-gerrymander up to a referendum, where people are told and can make a decision on the context for why it's being done, has vastly more democratic legitimacy than state legislators rushing it through because they got bullied by POTUS.
Bless their little loser hearts, Virginia constitutional amendments first have to pass the full legislature twice before they ever go before voters

#Environment #Conservation Gerrard was right, wasn’t he?
impossible to overstate how poisonous this shit is. dudes on the street smiling and waving at your toddler are an indicator of a happy and functional community
Also this is speaking mostly second hand about my wife’s feed. My threads mostly shows me “stupid answers to questions about religion” and “maps that are wrong”
For all the talk about BSKY being an echo chamber, at least it is a self selected echo chamber rather than an echo chamber of opinions served to you randomly and a-b tested for how much they stress you out/ hold your attention.
“Listen to black women” seems to be unusually algorithmically powerful over there. Which I noticed in how acrimonious it seemed like the TX senate primary was on that app and nowhere else.
I also think that threads has a really big problem of showing discourse that you have engaged with to you again and again and creating a false impression that everybody is talking about something that they are not.
The idea that most black women (just like any other gender or race of people) has a fully articulated opinion on the role that Mehdi Hassan’s opinion on Gaza influenced the 2024 election is vastly overestimating how political opinion works.
And honestly mostly vaguely liberal but don’t really think about politics that much. Because most people don’t actually think about politics that much.
Like the level of alarm that black women I know have about Trump runs from despair, anger, considering moving back to the West Indies, “what’s the big deal, it’s bad but he was president before and it went fine” , happy he will prevent abortions.
I know a lot of black women, and I gotta say, like most of them are, like—I don’t know a better way to say this—just normal people?
Chiitan thinks of transgender people as my mom and dad
cherish my mom and dad for the rest of my life
I love you all
I will continue to spread the message about transgender people until the day I disappear
I hope that all good-hearted transgender people can live their lives with pride and happiness
Looking forward to hearing from the “protect western civilization”/“free speech on college campus”/ “snowflakes need to leave their safe spaces and be challenged with uncomfortable ideas” people on this

If I was PM of a G7 country, I think the part of the job I'd enjoy most would be pretending that the bilateral partnership with Luxembourg is very important

A digital illustration done in simple contour lines and rough pencil coloring on neutral tinted paper background of a woman reclining on a surface in a faint. Seen from a foreshortened angle from her knees and feet. She’s laying on one hip with her torso twisting to supine. The back of one hand lays across her forehead and the other is held limply on her ribs. Her head is back and her red curls spread out on the ground around her. She’s wearing a white, voluminous and old fashioned night dress. Orange lettering in an Art Nouveau style to the right reads ‘Maybe it will happen today’.
