If memory serves in the Zzap! review it only mentioned tape/disk versions...not that I ever saw any of the UK Cartridge games down under given C64 retail space was already in decline by then down under! Annoyed me no end you only had 3 continues unlike the previous LN games.

Amongst the top 3 & top 5 arcade conversions during the Amiga's commercial life, Ocean France really knocked it out of the park with this one! ๐Ÿ‘

I'd mostly played the disk version so I was good!๐Ÿ˜… Though I did often jump at when Friday the 13th loaded up!๐Ÿคฃ

Hopefully hasn't met the fate of the Bombjack remake!๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™ Though I do hope there would be two Ghostbusters added meantime!

Always amazes how as a kid you'd hear these marvellous SID classics, (Many in the case of Mr Galway, though Times of Lore is a personal fave),& thoughts of synthesisers etc. being used etc. , when it was all assembly squeezed into a few kb!

Nice,if surprising find! (Glad the music got retained for Turbo Outrun!). I recall Zzap! made mention of Europa using Neil's own "engine",rather than Mark Kelly's code. In spite of Galaxy Force's so so score, they had been quite praiseworthy of Neil's 3D effect at the time.

As you touched on (& confirmed by Ocean's Paul Hughes),Activision gave them an incomplete version for The In Crowd...apparently bested their top playtesters!๐Ÿคฏ Not that I could get past the 2nd level at best...it was so slow & jerry you had to plan moves & hope you were in the right spot!๐Ÿ˜‚

Guessing without any heavily commented source code you gave the perfectly acceptable answer of Tinker Bell's pixie dust?!๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜

I'm still struggling with how Amiga Strider even rated vaguely well! Every Tiertex Amiga port would feature slow moving poorly animated sprites & chugging scrolling, nevermind ST-itis syndrome!๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜…

That look of "one smirk hooman & I'll jump on your lap & knead you to death with my murder mittens!"๐Ÿ˜‚ Much like your beloved Sid, I'd still would've risked it to give ear scritches, what a handsome lad!๐Ÿ˜

Never knew of the original arcade game nevermind the C64 port BITD, only stumbled on both by accident via a random post & YouTube videos a couple or more years ago...quite different to the usual blast-em-ups & more of the era!

Not the first time I've heard of this! Came as a shock in recent years to learn of Martin Galway's Rambo loading screen tune which was completely missing from the official disk version I had!๐Ÿคฏ Am so glad The Last Ninja 1 & 2 weren't affected by this!

Sadly seen this claptrap all too often...either millenial so called retrogamer or US one where they ignored the Tramiel era Commodore dominating Atari/Apple etc., & pretend those formats alongside NES/Sega consoles & PC were the only ones that mattered!๐Ÿ™„

Whilst no fan of the ST ports Amiga owners copped, given by the time I got an A500 (& no great school yard sources for games & so bought or had them gifted), my best exposure of new releases was my ST owning buddy. Bought stuff like Speedball 2 & Populous II & Llamatron based off what I played!๐Ÿ‘

Definitely a game for the twitch arcade like reactions & not the cautious types like me!๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜… However, silky smooth, lots of little details in the ships this time around, & Russian roulette bonus game to load up on weapon upgrades vitally needed!๐Ÿ‘

The need to flog off old gear to afford the new could be vicious but big baddies & stacks of lasers to buy/upgrade.๐Ÿ‘I can understand why they walked away from the games scene, but miss their passion they brought to their games dev!

Wish I could afford one btwn bills etc., but love seeing C64 fans being able to enjoy the classics & be able to run homebrews ala the amazing Sonic port & others with expanded options new & old equipment wise!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค“

Some slowdown if a few baddies on screen, but I thoroughly loved the presentation throughout...you'll eventually get some elf boots which ll speed up walking a bit!๐Ÿ‘
Never beat it but there's some areas to avoid til you're tooled up like the desert labyrinth!๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ‘ป
Some of my favourite Galway tunes!

The title sequence was done by Sensible Software & the superb music by Martin Galway,(had the instructions to this BITD,but my copy didn't save sadly!)! Recommend some trainers,& map/guide as some items can be one use & you need to restart!๐Ÿคฏ Also occasional nimble space bar & icon selection! ->

Know from your old posts you're too shy (& no shame for it!), for any YouTube/Twitch streams of DOS classics, but would happily watch your enjoyment playing them if you ever braved it as your love of that era from rpg to FPS shines through the fog of farts any naysayers have!

Just makes you appreciate Archer managed to get the best out of whatever computer version he did!

Much like i miss execs like Shawn Layden & Shuhei Yoshida whom loved their games big & small & interacting with the fanbase, also miss the creative engine behind series like Sly,Ratchet,Jak or Little Big Planet etc. These days the upper echelons are concerned about engagement & profits over fun!๐Ÿ˜‘

The less said about the ports of it by & large the better! But despite the slowdowns on a technical front, loved the details & temptations to use the environment or weapons to try battle your way through & sheer variety of foes...including the shock face off with your buddy if two players playing!๐Ÿ˜…

Such a shame as looks like it'd been right up my alley! Before mtx etc., took over "sports" games & wrecked them! That said,in cases like this, was begging for possible digital storefronts like Steam, PSN, XB Live etc., & self publishing given traditional publishing didn't back it!๐Ÿ˜”

As impressive as the likes of Eye of the Beholder C64, seeing these 16bit classics somehow shoehorned onto the C64 beyond a SID remake of the theme of Monkey Island is something I'd never thought I'd see! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ˜Ž

So long as the drive head stayed aligned...& some American disk heavy games sometimes didn't make the eyebrows furrow with disk loading noises sometimes!๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜… Though it would seem minor to my swapping nightmares on Amiga adventure games later! Still recall notching my C64 disks with school scissors!๐Ÿคฃ
