Look, if I promise to keep it to one post per episode, not the 12+ post Juggernauts analysis, will you go back to making sure to ask for ho' opinions on Bluesky? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜

Live 34 - great and experimental, Scardey Cat - utterly forgettable, Singularity - fascinating but flawed.

See? Concise!

Fine, addendum (after seeing another thread).

Yes, it's got flaws, but, after reading other's opinions and putting it off for years, I went in with such low expectations I was genuinely pleased at how much I enjoyed it.

I can see how Nick Briggs taking strategy at himself gets fucking tedious.

In the "Finish Big" Juggernauts episode, you and Marc refused to read my full comment because of its length.

Summing up Tom Baker properly on social media would take longer.

Let's say, no matter what else, he's the most INTERESTING actor to take on the role. No matter what else, he's never boring.

Huh, based on this thread, I may be one of rare people who ENJOYED this.

Most of you won't do this, but... Do not see Avengers: Doomsday. This includes Disney+.

If you do, you reward Disney for bad behavior. You say it's OK to fire the people who made the movie. You'll watch it anyway. That means they made the right call.

Yes, it's that simple.

Boycott Marvel films.

3 days ago 0 0 0 0

Most won't boycott the film. They'll feel bad about the VFX artists for a day, but CHRIS EVANS and RDJ are BACK!

And THAT is why Disney can get away with this. Are you going to see Avengers: Doomsday? If you do you reward Disney for this closure.

So don't watch it.

Including on Disney+.

Addendum: fuck Robert Downey Jr. Also, fuck Avengers: Doomsday. I'm not seeing it. The artists who quite literally made the picture got shitcanned. My not seeing it doesn't affect them, but it hurts the bottom line of the corporate shitheads. /CONT

Meanwhile Robert fucking Downey fucking Jr. Got fifty fucking million dollars to stand off to the side of the fucking set and read his fucking lines while SOMEONE ELSE wears the fucking Dr. Doom costume because fucking Robert found it fucking uncomfortable.

While the artists who cared got screwed.

The worst part is, as I noted 4 days ago, film/TV is 7% of Disney business.

This is the same company which deliberately tanked a $200+ million film (John Carter) to deny "a win" to a single executive who jumped studios.

God forbid unionized VFX artists make living money. /cont

Capitalism isn't about what you can do 25 years down. It's about what you can do this week.

Firing VFX artists is short term gain. Possibly mid term gain depending on how much AI Disney leans into (spoiler: all of it).

The individual artist is shit to be scraped off a shoe. /cont

Example: we've had the tech to mine asteroids since the 1970's. Imagine smelting a 5-mile wide nickel/iron asteroid rather than strip mining Earth for the same minerals.

It hasn't happened.

Because those who tried would spend billions over 20 years to begin to turn profit. /cont

As a buddy said to me a few years ago (when I was dealing with fallout from an acquisition in my own work), "The corporation is NOT your friend."

Corporate structure is ALL about short term gain vs mid-to-long-scale growth. This carries over to SO many things. /cont

1) we now know VFX for Avengers: Doomsday are complete.

2) The Marvel VFX team unionized. Numbering their days.

I have a buddy instrumental in James Cameron's VFX house unionizing. Of course, as soon as Avatar 3 was done, the company was dissolved and everyone laid off. /cont

Look, Rockwell was used to painting eyelines for mischievous, freckled, red-headed kids. Not adults...

A surprisingly compelling political thriller/war/body horror story with brilliant live technical execution.

Sword of Orion was crap. Cyberman hits as hard as Dalek Empire.

Briggsy writes his best Doctor Who in stories WITHOUT the Doctor.

Only one post this time. There's your fucking brevity.

Ditto.

When you're hanging out with a fellow, evil, rich douchbag committing crimes, "friendship" is definitely transactional, not based on liking.

What's not liking Donnie supposed to have told Epstein? "I need to find someone who wants to discuss Tom Wolfe's latest novel after a pedi-party?"

No one's gaslighting. Both things can be true - that two pedophiles hung out together for decades committing all the sex crimes, AND that Epstein hated Donnie.

To be fair, being Trump's closest friend for a decade isn't mutually exclusive with Epstein hating him...

My worry is the US will push Iran into a "Fuck it" scorched Earth strike where they just go ahead and launch pretty much everything they have left in one massive volley aimed at every drilling site, refinery, transfer point, and port within range.

Quite aware (originally from the US).

But, just to be paranoid I double checked the conversions, and, while I calculated US gallons, I used a factor of 1 (US) gal=3.75 litres instead of 3.785 litres, so my numbers are a few cents low.

My local station (Ireland) currently works out at $8.20/gal for Unleaded, $9.51/gal diesel.

Note the Irish government suspended all their petrol and diesel taxes two weeks ago... Which doesn't mean there aren't EU taxes, but those are about $1.25/gal

In other words, "You guys do great, and Disney is making money mouse over fist, but we can make even MORE money if we make you beg for each job and cut your pay since you're a contractor, not staff."

Note the entire film/TV department is 7% of Disney holdings. The REAL $$$ is the real estate.

Oof. I missed Challenger. I was home sick from school and Mom knew I was REALLY sick, because 13-year old space bug me went back to bed rather than watch the launch.

Until an upset Mom woke me up.

Columbia... Yeah, remember that, too.

Welcome home Artemis II.

While we were all wondering if nuclear war would break out Tuesday, the Trump administration quietly destroyed the US Forestry Service, probably in preparation to sell off all National Forests.

Because they are evil.
