just finished Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and tomorrow I'll have to go to work as though that wasn't one of most profound and moving video game experiences of my life
the lack of gay marriage sucks but if it's any consolation you can unlock the ability to switch your character model and portrait to the other protagonist so you can be like, aesthetically gay
I recommend 3, the gameplay is very similar to 4 but the story is MUCH shorter so I think it gives you the best feel for the games without being overwhelming. and like others have said 5 is charming but pretty rough so I wouldn't recommend it as an intro to the series
waiting a bit sounds like a good strategy! I love 3 4 and 5 (altho 5 is a little rough ๐ ) but the gameplay isn't as streamlined as GoA and the writing is different basically. they're also way weirder but I like that ๐ in any case I hope you enjoy them!

I think this is the best "no context" screenshot I've gotten in Azuma yet. It's hilarious with context (10/10 scene fr) but the energy of it is hilarious even with no context
tbh I'm pretty relieved to hear Rune Factory GoA has a fairly short story bc I genuinely do not care for games that are like 500+ hours lmao, at that length I struggle to remember plot beats and forming attachments to the characters only gets harder the later they're introduced. let games be short!
as a long time fan of Rune Factory it's great to see people enjoying Guardians of Azuma! unfortunately if this was your entry to the series I don't think I can recommend a single other game

I haven't drawn in a couple months, but RF:GoA inspired me to stop playing long enough to pick up the pen again. After three playthrus, Kai is hands down my #1, but I couldn't not draw my favourite female non-romanceable first: Tsubame !

tbh it's kind of hard to judge GoA as a Rune Factory game bc it is very much a spin-off that's doing it's own thing, so there isn't much to compare it to, but as a unique experience I'm finding it very charming and fun ^_^
