Quick and Meaningless Data Collection Help me collect some data to use for student examples! The questions on geographic region and gender will only be used for subsetting the data, not for student analysis. No questions are required -…

I NEED HELP!

Please take this quick, meaningless 19 question survey so I can get data for my students to learn stats!

I did a similar version a few months ago but missed an important question type. Even if you did the old one, please do it again!

Please circulate widely!

Possibly bc I spent much of that leg arguing with a Canadian who believed that Trump is great.

Loved Porto. Stayed in a small apartment overlooking that bridge, right on the water. Didn't really like Douro wines however.

💯 He clearly thinks he's smart, but every sentence is just a string of nonsense, if I could even understand it. Just nonstop self-delusion.

And how he emphasized Wolff's LAW as if that would make the "bone smashing" true.

The singular goal of all future US politics is to ensure Trumpism is defeated and cannot again take root here, and everything that serves that end is to be considered and prioritized. It's a holistic organizing principle, from a Green New Deal to Nuremberg 2 to expanding the court to Reconstruction.

That's good to know, thanks! I'm a Linux noob, but i think I can figure it out.

Really hoping that ARM64 works, as I'd like to read my backlog of PDFs on a MS Surface. But functioning R (and Python) is more important.

#rstats question: I'm getting a new laptop and debating between an x86 or ARM64 architecture. I know R and Rstudio released experimental ARM64 versions a couple years ago.

Do they run well? Are packages ready to install?

Reflects the institutional context questions others have asked. But based purely on personality and cognition (not a psychologist), Trump 1 bc his buffoonery and relatively good cognitive mental state limit the damage he can do.

A serious and sober Nixon: much worse compared to that.

Paul, this is evil.

Can I say Trump 2016, Nixon 1972, Trump 2024?

Adam means that she is the daughter of immigrants, but it is worth emphasizing that *every* U.S. citizen who has not been naturalized is a birthright citizen, either by the 14th Amendment or by statute.

It was an incredible honor to represent tens of thousands of rapid responders across Minnesota who have spent the last 118 days standing up for our neighbors.

Here’s my speech from yesterday at No Kings St. Paul.

Ugh, chest holsters. Just "tacticool" signaling with reduced functionality.

Kind of amazing how much more deeply reported and sourced this article is compared to what we typically see now. It's much richer reading.

"I was surprised at how quickly and extensively the experiment was bleeding into the rest of my life. I was listening to gambling podcasts in the shower and spending my Sunday afternoons watching five football games at a time—one on my phone and four on the TV’s split screen.

I routinely stayed up past midnight scrolling through the apps, my face illuminated in the dark of our bedroom by brightly colored ads for “NO SWEAT BETS” and “SAME GAME PARLAYS.” I impatiently swiped away FanDuel’s “Reality Check” pop-ups, which notified me, in what I took to be a passive-aggressive tone of disapproval, that I was spending quite a lot of time on the platform."

Relatedly, perhaps this is what I/she is worried about. Even w/o material reward, the obsession crowds out other, more meaningful parts of life that you'll regret later.

Jesus, I knew, but not the magnitude. That's inane.

That's really interesting: We can separate addiction from reward. Maybe that's what she's worried about, becoming obsessed with something, which may have diffuse "bad" effects, but not the loss of material goods specifically.

And I am obsessed with games!

But that makes me wonder about loot boxes, which I do consider gambling. Does that only apply to items you can sell to other players? Or ones that give an advantage?

I suppose I don't consider purely cosmetic items gambling, but then why the randomization? (As he buys a blind box for his kids.)

That's where I'm landing, but can't help but wonder if she's right. (She is the matriarch, after all!) Absolutely agree about skill being a much bigger part, and you don't get any reward you could use outside the game.
