Gisteren steunde een brede Kamermeerderheid het voorstel van GroenLinks-PvdA om het contract van Solvinity met DigiD na een Amerikaanse overname te verbreken. Dat juichen wij toe!

This is the thing, if "academia" wanted to stop this, we could easily tomorrow. Over 3 incorrect references? Rejected and forbidden to submit next year.
The purpose of a system is what it does!
Reminds me of reviews I'm navigating where the reviewers claim a middle ground between us & their opinion is important to implement in the paper.
But actually that's the worst idea. If there's 2 sides: I'm a side. Anything else is an untrue reflection. The literature deserves non mainstream views.
Today's free newsletter is about four signs that the AI bubble is bursting: Anthropic's services and economics are decaying, AI demand is inflated, more than 50% of data centers under construction are for two companies, and NVIDIA is warehousing $150bn+ of GPUs.

Kaspersky has a report out on Lotus Wiper, which it believes was the malware behind the Petroleos de Venezuela "ransomware" attack in December of last year
They don't specifically say it, but they imply it very obviously. They also don't mention the US once.

The post-AI-bubble regulation should start by making it illegal to do circular deals - money invested cannot be used to pay for services, money invested cannot be used for buying hardware, etc, etc. Hell, I'm game for making it illegal to invest in customers at all.

Advice for @erc.europa.eu :
Prohibit the use of LLMs for grant writing. Let applicants sign a declaration that they have not used such systems and that the text is written by them and them alone.
My teaching is embedded in an AI dept (prob because I sinned on the previous turn of the wheel of samsara), but the most pronounced sexism I never see discussed is if I give a student a bad grade it's my fault and I'm a bad teacher, but they get away with verbally abusing me in writing and still 1/
It's nobody's fault of course but sometimes it feels even academics forget that papers from writing to publication usually take prob more than a year. And that's part of the whole point. Slower than frenetic news and slower than blog posts is good actually because it is required for the process.
How many fucking “godfathers of AI” are there, and why do none of them talk about the actual realities of LLMs? Grifters galore
Got exactly one citation and ignored by several major pubs covering the official Microsoft post here, looking forward to Thursday when they get to do it again when token-based billing is announced ❤️
New York shouldn't rush a censorship mandate for 3D printers into the budget. Many experts have already warned that it won't work. It's faulty surveillance infrastructure smuggled in a budget bill. NYers, act now! www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

Exclusive: Microsoft To Shift GitHub Copilot Users To Token-Based Billing, Reduce Rate Limits Edward Zitron Apr 20, 2026 4 min read Executive Summary: Internal documents reveal that Microsoft plans to temporarily suspend individual account signups to Github Copilot, as it transitions from requests (single interactions with Copilot) towards token-based billing. The documents reveal that the weekly cost of running Github Copilot has doubled since the start of the year. Microsoft also intends to reduce the rate limits on its individual and business accounts, and to remove access to certain models for those with the cheapest subscriptions.
Exclusive: Microsoft is reducing rate limits on GitHub Copilot, removing Opus from $10-a-month subscriptions, and plans to move users to token/API-based billing some time later in 2026 in a sign that it's looking for way to cut costs for its AI services.
