Does anybody remember the Mar-a-lago speech Trump gave to oil company execs in 2024?
He asked for $1 billion in contributions, promising to roll back environmental regulations, and kill Biden's tax breaks for electric vehicles.
2 years on, that billion dollar investment seems to be a bargain.
That's a bargain...of course, I live in Florida.
The house in the background caught my attention. You probably couldn't touch for less than $1 million today--even in Peoria.
Assuming there was an ejected pilot, if he/she was not rescued, they were either killed or captured. Nothing from this administration is ever a straight story...
I registered for the draft when I was younger.
I never understood the underlying logic. You had to register so they could find you in the event of a national emergency.
But, if you didn't register, they'd find you!
At the time, the Immaculate Conception seemed to make more sense.
My local Publix probably assumes they are being clever...
Instead of the usual BOGO (buy one, get one) they love to tout, they are selling items at "buy two, get one free"...
I'm a single person...why would I want 3 cases of Snapple?
I understand where the Senator from Alabama is coming from.
I have a sincere, if unjustified, prejudice against people who talk like Tommy.
Saddened to hear of the death of Moya Brennan, yesterday in County Donnegal. At a time when I was researching my Irish heritage, I found her band Clannad. Take a moment to look them up on Youtube. You'll find It isn't the usual Paddy's Day thing. www.irishtimes.com/culture/musi...
I don't believe Trump has ever had an original thought in his life.
The phrase "drill, baby, drill" was first uttered by Michael Steel at the 2008 GOP Convention. Sarah Palin picked it up and ran with it as John McCain's running mate.
Trump probably thinks he invented it.
I always forget if I put the spoons in the sock drawer or the socks in the spoon drawer...
Wanna bet?
"Dad? Izzat you?"
The winner in Hungary is Peter Magyar.
I collected stamps as a kid, and I remember Hungarian stamps had "Magyar Posta" on them, even during the Eastern Bloc years.
It's sort of like Jacques LaFrance or Herman Von German.
I watched the @jenpsaki.bsky.social interview with John Kerry, and felt what many people now feel about Kamala Harris...that "if only" factor. The contrasts with W were bad enough in 2004, but the contrasts with Trump today (who is just 3 years younger) are staggering.
Later that day, Jefferson sent a controversial note to Aaron Burr...
I'm sure others have thought of this, but the Bangles song, adjusted, keeps going through my mind.
๐ถ"...just another TACO Tuesday...fortunately."๐ถ
With all the talk of the 25th amendment, may I suggest a more modest proposal?
Dems need to change the ineffective leadership in the House and Senate. There are certainly good people available to replace Schumer and Jeffries.
I would love to tell you what the price per gallon is, at my local Costco, but I literally couldn't get near it!
I'll bet if you voted for Trump, you didn't think you'd see Carter-era gas lines, did you?
Some doubts are cropping up...but, if true, I need to open an account in Polymarket, predicting the next city ICE rolls into.
Atlantic City is in Van Drew's district...maybe his constituents can supplement their income by scoring big at the casinos.
Fun fact; there are 9 casinos in Atlantic City which have NOT gone bankrupt.
@johnfugelsang.bsky.social may this Generation's Jonathan Swift, but with a knack for brevity. On Friday's @dailybeanspod.com he referred to Trumps speech this week as "Whine Kampf"...
I am expecting Trump to announce he's pardoning the Easter Bunny...
Iran IS a great country...simply led by corrupt government. Sound familiar?
I'm assuming there is limited seating...and he can't just "show up" like it was a cabinet meeting. Be funny if he were turned away...
After last night, they're due for a REBOUND! Looks like a beautiful night for it.
Tomorrow, the Supreme Court is addressing the concept of birthright citizenship. I hope I don't get deported to where I was born...
I mean, who can afford to live in New Jersey these days?
Do you ever wistfully ask yourself "I wonder what I'm doing right now"?
