We are scheduled to meet with management for a full-day session on Wednesday, and we will let all of you know how it goes.
Thank you to our loyal readers, viewers and listeners for your support of our union and the work we do ✊

During this contract fight, our members have delivered exclusive interviews with star athletes, on-site coverage from championship events, industry-leading analysis and engaging content that upholds SI’s name.
We are SI. The time for a fair contract is NOW 📝

Management wants us to accept:
❌ Sky-high health insurance premiums
❌ Sub-standard wage increases
❌ Inadequate protections against AI
❌ Negligible changes to salary minimums that were established four years ago

We’ve spent 15 months bargaining with Minute Media. We’ve reached agreements on some issues, but management’s proposals on wages, medical benefits and AI remain unacceptable.
We’ve upheld and rebuilt SI, and we deserve better. This is what we’re fighting for.

Through collective bargaining, we are continuing to press for protections that help prevent the spread of AI in the newsroom.
We believe our readers should get the best journalism humans can make.
We're calling on SI to commit to who has built its legacy: its people.
We sent a letter to management, signed by more than 80% of our members, asserting the need to be transparent with our readers and that replacing jobs with AI would damage our brand.
After the action, they agreed to disclose the use of AI when used to make editorial content.
Hi 👋 It has been a while since you’ve heard from us, but we’re standing side-by-side with other @nyguild.bsky.social shops to send a clear, simple message: News, not slop. Readers deserve journalism crafted by human hands.
Here's how we've been fighting back during collective bargaining 👇

We're at the bargaining table with our new management 🥳 Even after the corporate tumult of the last few years, Sports Illustrated has dedicated writers, editors and producers (incl. some incredible people who have been here for decades!), and securing the best possible future is so important to us
The SI union is back at the table. Excited to work toward a fair contract with our new operators ✊
A fair union contract will ensure Sports Illustrated remains an industry-leading workplace that can attract and keep talented people, do right by its employees and live up to the standard of the brand’s history.
We look forward to working toward that contract together. (3/3)
We also had a union contract in place at our previous employer, and we believe the rights and protections we already fought for remain vital for our members.
We are using our previous contract as a framework with which to bargain the new one. (2/3)
We are excited to share that we’ve begun bargaining a contract with our operators at Minute Media.
When Minute Media acquired Sports Illustrated, it took on more than just the legacy of the brand. It took on a stable of talented and hard-working employees as well. (1/3) 🧵
We look forward to discussing the future of SI with our new operators at Minute Media
To ABG, Arena Group, and any future publisher of Sports Illustrated:
We, the members of the Sports Illustrated Union, make this storied publication what it is. No matter what the future holds, we must be a part of it. #WeAreSI
Sports Illustrated does not exist without us
Our contract contains hard-won protections against business-side meddling in editorial. This report is unacceptable and we are considering all our options. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/...
