Virginia governor, advocates remember Dr. Cerina Fairfax Dr. Cerina Fairfax is remembered as a mentor and community leader as officials call attention to the broader impact of domestic gun violence toward Black women.

It has been really disturbing to see some people pay tribute to Dr. Cerina Fairfax’s killer without even mentioning her. The victims of domestic violence matter more than their husband’s political careers.

This is honestly the best case scenario for the FBI under Trump. Better an incompetent drunk than someone competent turning it into Trump's personal gestapo.

Orban is not conceding because he's honourable. He's conceding because his defeat is so comprehensive even he can't pretend he won.

Not only did Orban lose, the opposition is on track to gain a supermajority in parliament which will allow them to undo the horrible changes to the constitution that allowed Orban to hold onto power for so long.

Judges Fired After Blocking Deportations of Pro-Palestinian Students

Has any other nation ever gone to such incredible lengths—not just abandoning its foundational principles and curtailing its own citizens’ freedoms but even dismantling its own institutions—to shield another nation from scrutiny and criticism? www.nytimes.com/2026/04/11/u...

We cannot risk the world nor the wellbeing of our nation any longer,” she wrote. “Whether by his Cabinet or Congress, the President must be removed from office. We are playing with the brink.”

you do not have to hand it to tucker carlson or marjorie taylor greene or alex jones or megyn kelly. they're all rats who see trump as a sinking ship and they're getting ready to jump in preparation for their next act. you do not have to fall for it.

The Democratic establishment needs a hard pivot, starting yesterday, on Israel.

Unfortunately, still not there yet.

Meanwhile, the worst people, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Megyn Kelly are expressing the majority's opinion.

Self-destructive political incompetence.

For what?

A U.S. map showing that over the past 30 days, almost the entire country was significantly hotter than usual. Nearly all states are colored dark red, which indicates that maximum temperatures were 8 degrees Fahrenheit or more above the historical average. Only a few tiny areas near the northern borders show normal or cooler temperatures.

This is bad, but also, "laughs in Missoula"

This isn't going to happen, because Dems have a structural advantage in lower turnout elections (like weird spring elections) right now, but here's a fun little exercise

If the Democratic Senate candidate ran as far ahead of Harris as Taylor did tonight, the Senate would end up like this

A screenshot of a Facebook post by CBS 2 Boise. The post text reads: "A new state law required the City of Boise to take down the Pride flag outside City Hall. Tuesday morning, the City wrapped flag poles in Pride colors and added a new sign to the window on City Hall. CBS2 reached out to the Mayor and Governor’s office for comment."
Below the text is a collage of three photos showing these updates:
Left: A tall metallic flagpole in a plaza at night, with its lower section wrapped in horizontal stripes matching the colors of the Progress Pride flag (black, brown, light blue, pink, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple).
Top Right: A closer view of a flagpole base, also wrapped in horizontal Progress Pride flag colors.
Bottom Right: A large window on City Hall featuring a graphic with diagonal stripes in the Progress Pride colors alongside the text, "Creating a city for everyone."

Oh, this is good. Idaho passed a bill banning local cities from flying the Pride flag. So the cities decided to wrap the poles themselves in pride colors.

This is amazing.

I think it's bad for the President to threaten to annihilate an entire culture and i do not think you are being alarmist if you take his threats seriously and literally.

So I asked New York City’s preeminent journalist of the Democratic socialist movement and the reporter who first broke the news that Mamdani was considering a run for mayor, Peter Sterne of City and State New York, about Piker and the Democratic Party.

Sterne explained, “Polls show that the next generation of Democrats is much more open to socialist and anti-Zionist politics. Pressuring candidates not to appear on Piker’s show won’t reverse that trend, and I think the politicians who recognize the contours of this new Democratic coalition are the ones who will have success in the future.”

I really don’t give a shit anymore. I’m done hand-holding explaining myself in the kindness way possible as a trans person, only to be told I’m the asshole by people who refuse even the slightest discomfort. Show up for us or don’t. I’ll fight with and for people who do.

If it weren't for the fact that Bari Weiss' massive incompetence is wrecking a revered media institution with a century of history, this would be hilarious to watch her flame out.

Awful. A teenager, dead by suicide in an ICE detention center. There is now a crisis of suicide inside the detention system; I have never seen anything like it. Suicide has happened before, but they were very rare. This is the third or fourth this year.

When Trump's casino in Atlantic city was on the verge of insolvency, his father bought millions chips that he never intended to gamble with, providing cash to float a bond payment. Trump has always had someone to bail him out of his problems, but not this time with the war in Iran.

I fixed the statement. Very tired of Democratic leaders starting from the presumptive position that protesters are dangerous agitators and federal agents are just trying to enforce the law.

Watching Trump speak and justify why the US is entitled to invade another country and kidnap the president makes me think that when we started talking about the “post-truth” era, we had no idea of how deeply post-truth it’d become.

Perception of reality is now random and optional.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Love seeing you all stand in solidarity with liberation caucus on this topic. It doesn’t matter which caucus a dsa member belongs to. No one should be kicked out of a leadership role they were elected to. Just because someone else may not like the faction the elected member belongs to.
