I had a super day with Anna at the Museum of the Home, Hoxton. This is how a townhouse in 1878 might have looked at Christmas. On the table, was holly and a bowl of ground glass into which the holly would be dipped! Drying in front of the fire was marbled paper used for wrapping presents.
