Two years ago, we were treated to Celine Dion.
These Opening Ceremonies, we are treated to Andrea Bocelli!!!

It’s back! Was weird for about 5-10 minutes!
Anyone else having audio issues with @nflredzone.bsky.social ?
Sounds about right. When I ordered my big camera lens about 10 years ago, I had no clue the warehouse it was in was 5 miles away. It went up to central Wisconsin and back. 5 days later, it traveled 5 miles
Paid $7 for a “Rush” fee at PetFace Pajamas.
Nineteen days later the package still hadn’t touched USPS.
They answered with emojis.
I answered with evidence…
<refund issued>
Omfg. Great movie.
“Oh, you know…kinda funny lookin”
Bundled up to clear the last of the snow from the driveway and sidewalk. I’m that Midwestern neighbor that clears the sidewalk for my two neighbors to the left AND right of my house,(the length of my block). It’s not like it costs me anything but a little time with the trusty two stage snow thrower
Ooooof.
<laughs in atc pension>.
No, that won’t come back to bite me in the ass!
Agreed. Thanksgiving has been my thing for over a decade now. Amy and I usually host. Some years I took the week, some just the day. If Friday wasn’t an RDO, I always went in because the day shift is ultra easy money
You’re probably right about the straight 80. Happened to me for the 35-day shutdown.
Whole different story when the money ain’t there, ol’ compadre. Did a few shifts for the guys/gals with younger kids myself.
You’re telling me? I worked that shit for DECADES!
I’m starting to wonder if the day before thanksgiving is gonna be a really bad day to fly if the shutdown is still in effect.
#airtrafficcontrol
Like how many controllers are gonna bang out?!?!
We never let our trainees forget either!
It is ALWAYS “The Washington National Airport”.
It’s not like we haven’t been fucking saying/warning you this shit was going to happen if push came to shove. We’ve been pushing it for YEARS.
Shit won’t get fixed though until another Academy is built to train controllers, but OKC lobbyists are trying to remain home of the sole location, IIRC.
Those buncha jerks! 🤣
Well we might agree on that, but the FAA does not share our sentiment
No worries. If true, I’m super curious to hear more details about this though
“Tapes or it didn’t happen”. 😂
I read that as well, but I’m a little skeptical. 21 years? Decent chance that the controller in question just retired.
Granted, I haven’t been in the comments since yesterday, fairly fresh after it was posted, so there might be new information provided
Of course it's either Frontier (or Spirit)
"We’re being told to work without compensation, under the threat of TERMINATION, while managing life-or-death decisions. It’s one of the cruelest contradictions in public service." (reddit)/r/ATC/ #airtrafficcontrol #atc #shutdown #governmentshutdown
they're not being paid. Hiring new people isn't a matter of just throwing people at the problem. Out of 1800 people hired per year, maybe half actually make it to full certification. It's probably less than that.
2023 only saw a net gain of THREE controllers.
It's not that they are "not covering OT", they may be calling in for one of their regularly scheduled shifts.
Why is now showing management what happens? We've been screaming this shit for over 10 years. ORD has been on 6day workweeks since 2014. It's only more exacerbated now that
We’ve been warning you for years.
It’s the Gravy Seals!
If memory serves me correctly, the last shutdown ended fairly shortly after our first NPD (No Pay Due) statement. When, and if, it happens again, it’ll take the NY and DC area facilities to suffer from staffing crises and start to affect the politicians ability to fly unimpeded.
Costs more than a round trip in The Residence on Etihad!
