They've sussed the times we put bird seed and hedgehog food out, so they also have access to water. I feel sorry for them and agree blasting birds or any species with a gun or similar is not 'sport'.

In my area, close to two shooting estates there seems to be more pheasant and partridges who escaped the guns this year than on previous. Either crap shots or rearing too many.... it's awful as they've no road sense and look bewildered. And with the foxes shot no natural predators. Bastard hunters.

I've never trusted or been a fan of BNG...it had the potential to support habitats but without taking species into account. A bit like the district licensing for GCNs...that I see is nothing more than a licence to kill.

There are some stoking this up at a local level who believe Natural England will be watered down by Labour and NCC will revive the NWL through the backdoor.. 🤔
I don't trust any of them.
