A tired but smiling Erika shows off her Caledon Crusher medal
Yesterday I did my first ever 50km trail run: the Caledon Crusher on the Bruce Trail near Mono, Ontario. The course was challenging (so many climbs!) but the weather was perfect and I had a fun and memorable day.

A viral dog rescue from 2016 is now immortalized with a statue in Kazakhstan. When a dog fell into the Sayran reservoir, bystanders formed a human chain to pull him to safety. The statue is a reminder of the value of unity, solidarity and collective action. 14/10 for all
I LOVED this piece.
Kicked off the weekend with some new trail shoes, temperatures above zero, and spring in the air during my long trail run. Great to see the rivers thawing!

Could not be more proud of you, Team Canada.
You’re coming home with 21 hard-fought Olympic medals. Though what Canadians will remember most is how you wore the Maple Leaf: with pride, with grit, and with determination.

Let's give Trump another taste of that, and then build more bridges, with people want the United States to remain a democracy.

“The West is feeling its betrayal turn into rage. The world is waking up to both its vulnerability and its value. But better late than never: We’re all Canadian now.” Excellent piece by @stephenmarche.bsky.social.

Cold but beautiful trail run today at Fanshawe Park (London, Ontario). Photos don’t do justice to how bright and pristine the winter landscape is.

Happy to see that the SCC will hear this case on Crown liability and legislation insulating the government from civil claims.
Perfect trail running conditions today. One of the reasons I love winter running is that the snow covers all those pesky tripping hazards!

Just a wee bit blustery for today’s trail run. Made this winterphile very happy!
I started this paper just as the pandemic hit, and I wasn’t sure if it would see the light of day. Delighted to have it published in the Canadian Bar Review.

Finished up my 2025 race season today with the Lost Valley 25km trail race, a point-to-point run on the Iroquoia section of the Bruce Trail. A greyish day but there were still some beautiful views.

Otters with hats again, for no reason other than otters in hats!
What a heartbreaking way to end the season. The Blue Jays were so much fun to watch this year. I love that team.
