Those aren't really separable. It would be more accurate to say that the US has gone all-in on software and chip design, while China focuses on the full stack, including green energy to power the damn things (but also extracting resources required to make the chips, applications like robotics, etc).

Consider an exceptionally tall male and exceptionally short woman. Can they fuck? I reckon they can. Why would primarchs be different with an exceptionally tall woman?
It is truly bizarre. The side that is BEGGING for peace negotiations (ie. is implicitly admitting that they lost the war, and independent assessment would conclude that they did indeed lose the war) is demanding for concessions. But I guess that's what happens when you elect a giga-narcissist
Mutta entä jos SDP liikkuu samalla oikealle?
I wish this was an oligarch's panicked response for realizing they must impose 99.999% wealth taxes on themselves or be guillotined, but clearly it's something else.
Maybe he's going for the long-haul with the whole American century of humiliation thing. As of now I wouldn't expect IRGC or Danish troops or anyone else to be marching down the streets of Washington anytime soon, but in a century with America sufficiently weakened? Perhaps, and then it comes handy
Good. They should have been illegal as it is. Use train.
Surely the score is more than that, have you not seen the Lego parodies?
For that matter, he would still have money to purchase newspapers to run puff pieces on oligarchs like himself. So clearly that billion would be too much as it is.
Wow. How does it do it?
This is besides the point, but let's remember that the picture is pretty bad, though... Isolated glass towers (minimal density) surrounded by monocultures, no human outdoor spaces, monorails to nowhere, flying vehicles are in fact bad... Eutopian city looks very much like (good) cities we have now.
Everything else aside, I think the appropriate reading of that hypothetical would be "The Green Party promises to make UK a country people want to live in" (and the corollary, that other parties deliberately sabotage the life in UK because they enjoy being cruel)
That's deep. But anyway, I share their happiness.
Aha! Take that, my face into your fist style!
Not just Iran, mind, but Poland and the Nordics and Canada and South-Korea and Japan... I for one am demanding an independent Nordic/NB8 nuclear deterrent. Which, let's not mince words, would be another actor capable of destroying America. Not a likely candidate, but still. Thank Trump for that too
...yes? Why should the loser in the war expect to impose its demands upon the victor? Do the MAGAts even realize that they lost?
It's the Silicon Valley startup cultural drive for profit (Moloch, as Scott Alexander, a rationalist blogger, put it) at expense of human concerns that makes SV types act like misaligned AI. Sequences just happen to be popular in SV too, they're not a cause of nazism in themselves.
Indeed, they are very much philanthropic (although, again, I believe classical liberalism isn't a recipe for achieving the desired ends). 7/8
Other comments mention visiting a nazi bar. Beyond broad classical liberal thought (which, admittedly, I do find a route to unjust societies), you won't find any of that in the Sequences themselves. /6
...would first arise in a more sophisticated, agentic, systems, doesn't render them invalid. Heck, he continues to this day to be a proponent of AI regulation (in the absence of more permanent solution), which I guess puts him on the side of what I assume the poster I'm quoting is coming from? /5
...(getting the AIs to do what we want them to do), and on that count has become totally vindicated! Most issues with LLMs/GenAI, from sycophancy and overconfident assertations ("hallucinations") to allowing generation of revenge porn, are alignment issues! Just because he imagined the issues... /4
Regarding AI policy too, Yudkowsky was a pioneer: he didn't anticipate everything (literally nobody else did either), like that an architecture as "dumb" as LLMs could do all the things they now do, but as pretty much the sole voice in the world, he anticipated alignment issues... 3/
Like... Bayes is a theorem, it's simply true. Bayesian epistemology is a tool, a good one, increasingly widely and deeply adopted, and the Sequences are a good introduction. Indeed, they've anticipated ongoing trend in science and philosophy in some areas, but I expect this to be true of others 2/
Granted, I don't quite see the context, but... Now, as a leftist in Scandinavian context, I'm pretty much diametrically opposed with almost all Silicon Valley Rationalist types in terms of politics, but I would argue that this is because of Silicon Valley, not because of Bayesian rationalism. 1/
Okay, let's suppose the person accused is a sheep: the goatfuckers she is involved with probably are also into other bovids.
Perhaps there's a well-known well-collaborated true story that's different, but I always kinda assumed Epstein found Trump his trophy wife, so connection could be just that.
The difference is, however, that in 1776-2024 leaders were fired for incompetence, while MAGA fires them for competence.
Just think of all the clean energy you could create by combining the Popes. That being said, I kinda like the one in the Vatican. Maybe he can spare a fingernail clipping or two.
I don't know, maybe we should charge sound dues from fascist regimes like the US and Israel (and block the straits completely from Russia).
Opening the strait of Hormuz or winning a war against Iran clearly seems to not be included in "whatever".
