Trying to get back in the habit of posting... so, apropos to nothing, today I'm working on a paper on Madelina Forbes Mitchell - 'The Persian Nightingale' - the granddaughter of #CharlotteSmith who moved to Adelaide in 1838. British #Romanticism meets colonial Australia and local history.

Picked up these lovelies at Adelaide Booksellers.
The Grenadillo Box is, in part, a fictionalisation of Lord Montfort's suicide in 1755. Suicide also features prominently in Sarah Siddons' great career. And a lot of these Victorian love stories end... well, you know.

Stoked to have received my copy of this bad boy... I mean, this sombre tome. I've missed working on poetry, so perhaps this will inspire some new work.

Have just seen all Oscar-nominated shorts at the Capri Theatre. I'd be very happy to see Pachyderme (Fra) win the animated category, and either Knight of Fortune (Den) or Invincible (Can) win for live action. #oscars2024
