totally ridiculous! Everything that goes into growing an organoid is something we know. The possibility space of everything that goes into generating conscious is infinitely more than whatever it is that goes in the dish...

It was really great to visit and learn about all the exciting work being done at the center for hypothalamic research! Truly an amazing time at UTSW

Happy to have contributed in a small way to this atlas of the paraventricular hypothalamus! I think this will be an amazing resource for everyone studying the PVH. Open access too!

Abolish ICE.
There’s no reforming it.
There’s no compromise.
There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.
Epstein’s economic power among academics was made possible by a capitalist system that makes higher education dependent on the charity economy rather than a public good supported by taxing the rich
As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today. ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.
Check these out!!
Hahah I need this too!
Please spread the word🔊My lab is looking to hire two international postdocs. If you want to do comp neuro, combine machine learning and awesome math to understand neural circuit activity, then come work with us! Bonn is such a cool place for neuroscience now, you don't want to miss out.

Top youtube comment right on the nose: “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” from George Orwell's 1984...
Great thread summing up the PhD experience!
I really loved this episode!

CBS didn't run the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT, but over here at @propublica.org we've been working on the story since March, including finding out who each and every man sent to that maximum security prison was.
You can see our reporting here: www.propublica.org/series/depor...
Definitely confusing. Did you ever reach out to the first author or PI? Would be curious to see what they say
Looking for a postdoc position to explore the neural circuits that regulate metabolism? Look no further!

Amazing postdoc opportunity in systems neuroscience with a great mentor! #NeuroJobs
Flyer for a Donation Call where there was a lost of 16 grad school app fee waiver partners this year, totaling $8,250 in waived fees for aspiring scientists gone, that is 110 applications that may never be submitted.
Last year, we helped 100 students save $31K in grad school app fees, giving students from underserved communities the freedom to apply widely.
This year we lost 16 partners = $8.2K setback = 110 fewer dreams.
🎓 You can change that.

This is amazing. 💯 ingenuity
Super grateful to Brad for all the support, to @walkersamuelj.bsky.social for introducing me to the wonderful worlds of systems neuroscience and feeding regulation, to @amdouglass.bsky.social for always pointing me in the right direction, and all the other co-authors for their contributions!
We discovered an excitatory PVH-Sim2→ARC-AgRP circuit whereby the PVH excites ARC-AgRP neurons in response to the unexpected unavailability of food. This genetically specified circuit is essential for normal energy balance and enables the brain to predict and prevent deviations from homeostasis.
ARC-AgRP "hunger" neurons were found, very unexpectedly, to be inhibited by cognitively-processed sensory cues that anticipate ingestion of food. In this work, we asked are ARC-AgRP neurons also regulated by cues that signal the absence of food and thus able to predict future energy deficit?
