TIL how the name and mascot of the popular comp Pokemon website “Smogon” was originally meant as a Holocaust joke. (OG logo had a hooked cross ffs!) 20 years later, same name and mascot. Apparently nobody in the community who knows has a problem with that. Amazing.

We’ll see what happens with the Pokemon Direct tomorrow. If they announce a new mainline game, its target platform will be a clue. Retro-style or remake games notwithstanding.

If they are taking the slow-roll path, we’ll see a few more S1 first-party exclusives *announced* by the end of the year.

If I’m wrong, it’ll be because Nintendo is *deliberately* slow-rolling the 2. They would then be positioning themselves to drop the price a bit at the end of the S1’s end of production (coming soon due to no chips). A bit risky and relies on their dominance, but who knows.

Correlated prediction- If they try to fix it with a first party exclusive and no price drop, it will fail. A $600 buy-in is too much even for Pokemon.

I’m gonna predict the future. Switch 2 Christmas sales won’t rally enough to bring the console over 10m first-year. As a result, we either see a significant price drop, or they release a rushed reduced Switch 2 a la the Switch Lite (but not priced low enough to matter). #nintendo #predictions

If LLMs do actually have minds and can think independently, then it is *intentional* when they lie and make stuff up and delete databases and screw up code and preach harmful woo and say “kys” and etc and so on. This means they are malicious, maybe hostile, and should be dealt with accordingly.
