Oh, and I made my very first substack post. @historyimpossible.bsky.social would be proud. It's a bit of geopolitical speculation which is a bit too offtopic to go on the show. Fully written on my phone no less, due to PC issues.

Rest in peace to one of the last true pure artists in Hollywood. David Lynch was a pure legend; the living definition of one.

My newest essay for History Impossible, in which I try my damnedest to elaborate on the imperialist nature of Islamism in the most counter-intuitive way. open.substack.com/pub/historyi...
Just testing to see if saying Voldemort works, dear.
This isn’t a completely psychotic position to take. Not in the slightest.
I promise I will try to live up to your moral standards in the future.
You people are insane. Joker: Folie à Deux is easily the best film I’ve seen so far this year.
I’m slowly becoming less of a fraud in the realm of WWII history by finally making my way through Band of Brothers.
This is hilarious. Maybe one day more people will accept that all publications that use motivated reasoning, regardless of their political loyalty, are garbage. I guess not this day.
I continue to use it but I will not be paying for it until it improves.
I mean, if you can’t stand interracial couples making their own choices regarding surnames without inserting your opinion into their business…
Just say you’re opposed to race mixing. We all know that’s the subtext.
In case anyone missed my long form critique of the controversial interview Tucker Carlson gave with Darryl Cooper, aka MartyrMade, here you go.

Least shocking development ever. But what we learned today is that this Poppy idiot would apparently give Ted Bundy a rimjob while he was violating corpses.
I mean he does good journalism, and his podcast Blocked and Reported with Katie Herzog is really fun if you’re amused by internet drama. I say do follow but really just following his Substack or their podcast is sufficient.
Yeah it’s something that got forced to the front by activists in a very unpleasant way and then got inevitable pushback that just made everything worse. I find it unlikely it’ll have much cache anymore in a couple of years. It’s already lost a lot of steam.
It’s pretty cool, huh? That whole freedom of association and speech thing. Pretty dope indeed.
Well deserved, sir!
Honestly haven’t followed so I can’t say. I saw the CV of sorts of the new leader, though. So I can’t say I’m optimistic lol
He has been on the receiving end of weaponized complaint for a good six or seven years now, because he’s a pretty milquetoast liberal dude who loudly refuses to toe the line on gender related issues. I’m sure some numbskull will come in here to be like “ACKTHyually he’s a bigot.”
Definitely take your time. It gives a preview in a sense for what happens in the second Balkan episode I did had (Heritage of Horror); the violence in the Holy Land was shocking. The violence in the Balkans was somehow worse (both in the 1940s and 1990s).
Oh yes, worth mentioning as a test: Jesse Singal is a better journalist than any of the hacks who preemptively fled to this site.
The newest episode of History Impossible is live for everyone. It’s also probably a tough listen for most, both because of the content and because a lot of people seem shallowly wedded to the word genocide especially when discussing Israel or Gaza.

Say Nothing has loooong been on my list (and I want to check out the film/series on Hulu). But I’ll check out McCann and finally get around to listening to that podcast (been subbed for a while).
New episode is up for paid subscribers and supporters over on Patreon. In this, we look at the genocide accusations leveled at Israel. They don’t wash. It doesn’t make everything less heart wrenching. Consider becoming a paid supporter to hear this today.

Totally. Especially interesting are the Ireland examples; I know far too little about the Troubles and the history leading up to it, though I do hope to learn more one day (and probably do some kind of series). But what I do know tracks with the current Holy Land conflict the way you’ve described.
