Okay, I’ve been away from here for a while. Since I’m based in India now, are there any good accounts for India news, in particular science, tech and research? I am getting tired of having to look at the other side on x, so would prefer to follow some good accounts. Thanks!

As someone who has massively benefitted from a Jesuit education, I love this letter.

Even though I was unable to vote (time to get the ballot papers in time to Australia was too short), 84% turnout is a reason for hope, but worrying that 20% wanted to vote for fascists is a reason for deep concern.

The trouble of trying to vote in Australia. Still waiting for my postal ballot in Melbourne- looks like some made it to Sydney. The consulate has deleted the post but this is pretty terrible. Elections need planning and time.

Auch wir in Australien warten auf unsere Wahlunterlagen. Der Zeitraum war zu knapp. Auf Nachfrage konnten die Unterlagen erst am 7. Februar verschickt werden wegen diverser Einspruchsfristen. #bundestagswahl

Please read the summary. I have checked yesterday myself how some of the sites have gone dark. It is the right time to be concerned. Very concerned.

Just a service hint: it pays to run the skybridge after a couple of weeks. I was suprised to find more people I like to hear from have also moved!

Returning from the Great Ocean Road I’ll have to boast and fill everyone’s screen with the koalas I found in the wild. Nature is just amazing.

An amazing night tour at the Moonlit Sanctuary two days ago! Hanging out with gliders and quokka and other marsupials, whilst hand feeding Wallabies and Kangaroos. Magic

This is worth reading and sharing as we are likely to face an accelerated and unprecedented attack on trust in science across the globe in the next years. Having spent time with some of the signatories, I know how deeply they care about the advancement made by researchers globally.

As publishers we sometimes forget the pure excitement our authors feel when they are published. A while back I had brokered this book to Palgrave and the authors messaged me about her delight holding it in her hand. We forget that sometimes when looking at spreadsheets and workflows.

Weedy seadragons at Portsea pier today. One of them had the bright pink eggs- it is the male who is carrying them around. Amazing to see this, finally.

Continuing the first week here with pictures before normal posting. This is about #scubadiving - another passion! A #seadragon near my current home, #impressions from #thassos from my only home where the #octopus played with my camera, and the dream trip to #rajaampat. Is @padi here? Other divers?

Continuing the picture thread today with one of my favourites. #China is important to me and so are human to human interactions. I was lucky to have lived there. I took this picture of an anonymous skater on midsummer night in #Beijing this year. There is so much in there. I just share it here.

Continuing with what’s important: the music thread. Here’s another side of the spectrum. #Radiohead, The Smile make some of my favourite music at the moment. I was lucky to see them in #London, and Thom Yorke in #Melbourne. #music #live

Hello! Since I have just moved to #bluesky I’ll post some random pictures from the past- starting with Laika, who sadly was not able to move from #Berlin to #Melbourne. We miss her every day. #firstpost #dog #saluki. She really deserves to be the first post, and I’ll see who else I can find here.
