And embrace joy.
Whenever possible.
The older I get the more I realise life doesn't give you much in the way of joy and pleasure.
Don't miss those opportunities.

Every time I do my very small gentle 15 minute little stretch times and see how it makes things less bad I get so grumpy. Like THANKS stretches, I suppose you want to be a HABIT now too? You and all the other body maintenance tasks?
something abled people don't get is you can have just one day a week where you are too sick to work, and that's enough to disqualify you from nearly all full-time jobs. it doesn't take a lot
in a lot of disability posts, disabled people (me too!) have said stuff like "I don't want a cure for disability, I want a cure for ableism". But you know what, there are some chronic illnesses and disabilities that are debilitating, and if you need or want a cure, I'm right there for you.
“Please stop eating my shirt.”
YOUR FOES WOULD SEE YOU SLEEPLESS: RESIST AND REST.
Ableism makes you think you will be the exception.
Disability won’t happen to you.
You’re “better than that”.
You’re “stronger”.
You will succeed where the rest of us failed.
It’s not true. Disability can & does happen to almost everyone.
It’s not a moral failing.
Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.
I don’t want to formulate words yet, but my friend Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social of the Disability Visibility Project, has passed.
Here are the words she left behind:

Screencap of audiobook cover for Cat’s People, showing an illustration of a black cat being petted by hands reaching from all directions.
If you want to read a heartwarming book about the power of friendship, and also the power of cats, may I suggest Cat’s People by @tanyaguerrero.bsky.social ?
The audiobook narration is excellent, including the various meows.

N95s can prevent more than just Covid!
They stop colds, flus and other airborne illness.
They’re also highly effective against pollen, pollution, wildfire smoke and environmental triggers.
Many maskers haven’t been sick in years.
Respirators are pretty amazing.
OK I missed a t at the end because FEELINGS.
“It’s hard to replicate true love,” says Bassit. 😭😭😭
Sports can be a funny thing but this is a reminder they are part of the civic landscape and it's a beautiful thing when, whether they care about baseball or not, everyone gets on the bandwagon and you see the diverse, often squabbling city come together for a special, few moments.
They deserve a parade.
Honestly, for Toronto and Jays fans that is an unforgettable, indelible, brutal way to lose. That is pure heartbreak, pure what-if, forever. And that’s part of what made that one of the best baseball games anyone will ever see.
You can hear the Dodgers cheering because the rest of the stadium is silent with disappointment.
BASEBALL: Game lasts forever --The Salisbury Post, 24 Aug 1998

We’re doing this again I guess.
My cat is SNORING on my lap despite all my yelling at the screen
Tell me the devil doesn't exist. Watch this baseball game and tell me the devil doesn't exist.
I am hugging a pillow for dear life that is fine it is all fine
This is not even baseball. This is something like Hyperbaseball.
ANOTHER INNING IN GAME SEVEN???
IN THIS ECONOMY???
Cat is trying to climb all over me to offer comfort but I do not want his ears to block the baseball.
He compromised with him making a nest in my lap.
I might get scratched to heck when I scream but we all make sacrifices.
