Coding with @OpenAI is great, but it is like working with junior level developers. It writes sloppy code & patches issues instead of building a strong resolution. My standard is too high I guess after 38 years of coding.

I’ve been using Codex @OpenAI this week. Created a couple of apps fast, but accessibility for screenreaders is a challenge. The Python & WPF apps got close, but the AI never got the keyboard commands or navigation complete. So close & yet.

As of 1:40PM, southwest Raleigh is still awaiting snow. What started as a potential 6-10 inches is now 1-3 inches. I’m thinking it is going to be a sneak attack. Cold wind & 20 degrees is all so far. The North Carolina bubble is real.
Winter storm thankfully produced sleet instead of ice. Sidewalks & steps are still a mess. Neighbors were clearing sidewalks yesterday but stopped short of our section. Sweet.
I added taping over our external door locks. Whenever we have wind & frozen precipitation, the locks stop working. Crazy what you think to do before a winter storm.
One local new channel has been talking the winter storm most of the day & there’s nothing to report.
I’ve filled up the 5 gallon water container in prep for the winter storm in NC. If North Carolina weather traditions hold, the storm will shift away from Raleigh. 🥶❄️

I really need to try Claude & Gemini for mainframe coding. ChatGPT is amazing at building DB2 queries. Just start a complex task slow & gradually add complexity. 35 mins to create & test, it would take me all day to plan & code. 🙈

Distressing how ChatGPT and other AI can review a code dump of COBOL errors in 30 seconds. It would take a couple hours usually to grab all the error logs and compiler outputs then review fault analyzer and convert binary message codes. Mainframe coding is simplified.
