It shows how much good will Victory Gundam bought by being so thoughtful and slick that I’m even remotely entertaining the idea of the pedophile bathtub scene being thoughtfully made.

There’s a world where this show never put in the effort and had that scene and I just abandon it.

Again, the right answer here is just not having the pedophile bathtub scene at all.

Like I said, there’s definitely room for this idea, this horrible inversion of the motherly women Uso meets, a lesson for the young boy to not be so guided by how much he misses his mother.

But to do it right, it probably would too real or dark for the kind of show this wants to be…

In a sea of kind motherly women, here comes a shark who wants to twist the relationship and roles between mother and son.

The scene where she first attempts this has clown honking sounds and goofy cartoon faces an it ends with a naked chase scene. Yikes

She then joins him in a bathtub and an insane boner comedy sexual assault scene happens. It’s not a good look for anyone.

But then, like 10 episodes later, Lupe Cineau returns and reveals these dreams she has of purification by a young boy (yikes) and Uso very violently pushes back against this

All the women Uso knows are caring and kind, and fill the gap in his heart left by his missing mother.

And then comes Lupe Cineau, an enemy pilot who chastises an aggressive subordinate for being rough with their then “precious” captive Uso. Quite motherly!

Victory Gundam is a show about a boy searching for his mother and seeing a mother in all the women and girls around him. We see how this state of mind makes the relationships he has with them range from sweet to sad to strange all in one episode with one character. War also happens, it’s UC Gundam

All that being said, there is *something* interesting going on here with Lupe Cineau, one of the many older women that Uso runs into in his murder spree across the earthsphere.

Is this *something* pulled off well? Absolutely not. Is there room for it to be done well? You know, I’m not really sure

In a perfect world, there would not be the pedophile bathtub scene or any pathos written around it in Victory Gundam

But this is not a perfect world

genuinely fucked up that the pedophile bathtub scene in the V2 Gundam debut episode is followed up in a strange and fascinating and discomforting scene that speaks to the themes of motherhood already thoroughly and more palatably set up in the show
