I love the harsh sunlight streaming down through slits in the cave ceiling high above. It’s such a smart and natural way to light the environment while also allowing the edges of the frame to fall off into blackness.
"There's Thufir Hawat, let him stand free, Gurney."
Our first view of Thufir in the final scene. How much VFX work was required to remove him entirely from #DunePartTwo ?
Here’s a social media trend I hate:
“What if [insert movie here] was shot vertically?” and then it’s just the ugliest AI shot extensions.
Just saw one for Dune: Part Two. Disgusting. Go fuck yourself.
Heighliners of Dune
First time, and I’m going in with virtually no prior information or expectations. Picked it up based on a friend’s recommendation.

Hard to believe it's been since Dune in 2021 that we've seen Oscar Isaac in a live-action film role. Such a great performance. I'm excited to see him again in Frankenstein later this year. Welcome back, Mr. Isaac.
Rookie numbers
Experiencing Dune: Part Two in the theater again yesterday reminded me how insane the sound is. Sound design Oscar incoming.
Now seated for Dune: Part Two (re-release)
Glad to be seeing it back in the theater!
Happy #LetterboxdFriday Time for another #LastFourWatched
Two Dune films nominated for Best Picture, and still no Best Director nomination for Denis Villeneuve. It’s not just an oversight anymore. It’s a criminal snub.
Criminal but not surprising
Gilbert is not proud to be an American
Seen some discussion on here about directors and their signature shots, and it got me thinking. There’s nothing Denis Villeneuve loves more than a viewfinder POV shot!
Happy 700 to all who celebrate
It’s time again for #LastFourWatched posting. What have you all been watching this week?
A Titan of cinema. Rest in Peace, David Lynch (1946-2025) ❤️

Same. It's a Dune 84 and Fire Walk With Me night.

Rest in Peace David Lynch, one of the most creative and interesting artists of our time.
Here’s a meme I’ve stolen for your Wednesday. It’s deeply stupid, but it makes me laugh.
Very true
Felt. Hang in there friend
They began shooting Part Two in July 2022 with intent to release October 20, 2023. Not that much of a stretch for the Messiah schedule.
The comeback of all time
Couldn’t sleep. Watched Dune: Part Two at 4 am. Suffering for it now.
Plus some guy in a cool hat! I'm sure he was important to the production too.
