Sam Altman’s Orb Company Promoted a Bruno Mars Partnership That Doesn't Exist “To be clear, we were never approached … nor were we in any discussions regarding a partnership or tour access,” a spokesperson for the artist tells WIRED.

Doesn't get more wild than this- was this an AI-generated press release that hallucinated?

I think this is one of those things that began with a slightly or perhaps even fundamentally different meaning. Someone once told me the full quote is, ‘…in matters of taste.’

I think the idea that socialism is ‘anti-egoist’ is a false dichotomy. It’s also absurd. Some of the biggest egos around are on the leftist buss.

So you imagine I’m ‘bougie’ bc I’m posting on a Wednesday afternoon? This is my weekend. You’ve merely provided more evidence of the shallow, one dimensionality of Marxism. There are plenty of high profile trust fund kids around here, they mostly poast in favor.

I think Starbucks unionizing represents an aberration or exception. I think the idea that unions can be resuscitated to some former glory is another lost cause.

I’m not reading it. If it’s in favor of it, it’s no loss to me. If it’s critical, good on them. I don’t want to talk about Marxism any more than to say it isn’t worth talking about.

Furthermore, I am here poasting on bsky, which strongly suggests I am in the liberal/progressive/leftist coalition to start with, and would have heard all about it from both critics as well as proponents.

I find it curious that the assumption persists that folks who discount Marxism are simply not informed about it. The communist manifesto dropped something 150 years ago. There have been multiple attempts at state socialism, none have progressed to communism.

‘No really, people are still mad about this.’

Lol, I completely forgot about this.

It’s silly to suggest we should be more concerned about reality rather than running around willy nilly making up theories based upon some fantasy?

I don’t have any interest in investing more time on Marxism.

She is a joke.

This is never going to happen. The ‘proletariat’ is not interested in becoming indentured to a nanny state. This was only ever attractive to countries that lagged far behind the Industrial Revolution. ‘Communist revolutions’ were never about seizing, so match as starting and expanding production.

In science, a theory is something that has been tested and the results have been independently replicated. Marxism remains a hypothesis (which really ought to be discarded by now). That’s why even they can’t agree on much, and often disagree amongst themselves even more than those who reject it.

I jest, of course it’s all much worse. But the lofi vocals are way over used.

None of this is a bad as making the lofi ‘on a pay phone’ lead vocals a thing for the last 25 years. I mean, not as some dramatic effect for the hook, but the entire f’ing track.

No, you’re right. Her colleagues choosing the dying guy is not any kind of sign that she’s cosplaying as a cartoon super hero and just isn’t a serious person. It’s akshully a consthpiracthy against leftererism.

Still better than any leftererist.

People chose a dude who was literally dying over her and that’s your pitch? I mean, the folks that know her personally were all, ‘this dude who could keel over at any moment is legit a better option.’

I think your real complaint here is that these solutions do not fit into any perfect box as described by any of the theory you’re accustomed to. The vast majority of today’s theory is an attempt to force some wistful notion upon reality, rather than attempt to describe it.

And this is where ‘empires collapse.’ The idea that power is a ‘thing’ that can be wielded. Power is not a thing. ‘Abuse of power’ is functionally taking an effect out of context. Power relies upon context.

Power is an illusion built upon projections made out of a collection of effects. Power is not a cause, it is a result.

Not popular take around here but, stop reading only theory. It’s been made into a circular argument.

In the US, politicians face election every 2, 4 or 6 years. They deal with issues, that if taken seriously and not treated as mere signifiers of some ideology, amount to something analogous to the most challenging engineering problems. None of this amounts to ‘boring’ or ‘monotonous.’
