The day concluded with a wonderful evening gathering at Manchester Cathedral, where we came together to explore how the Lordās Prayer teaches us not only how to pray, but how to live. It was an inspiring end to a truly memorable day.

From The Blue Coat School to Oldham Parish Church, through to experiencing the breadth of our intercultural mission and visiting Fabric Church in the city centre, each visit offered a vibrant snapshot of life in our diocese.
We were delighted to welcome Archbishop Stephen @www.archbishopofyork.org to our diocese yesterday. With spring in the air, we enjoyed a glorious day that highlighted the many ways our parishes and schools are living out their faith.

The second stop on Archbishop Stephenās visit to our diocese was all about singing! Pupils at Holy Cross CE VA Primary School and the Sing my Soul Choral Scholars showcased their talents at Oldham Parish Church.
We joined them for collective worship, and Archbishop Stephen spoke to the pupils about the Lordās Prayer and answered their thoughtful questions. A huge thank you to the staff and students for such a warm and generous welcome!

God laid on my heart an idea to teach The Lord's Prayer across the north of England. This year, on 19th March, I'm coming to Manchester Diocese. I look forward to visiting different places and meeting different people, and will be at Manchester Cathedral for an evening of prayer and reflection.

Rachel appeared in the first of two programmes exploring the parables of Jesus, speaking with presenter Sean Fletcher about The Parable of the Good Samaritan.
Alongside her public sector leadership, Karen has extensive experience as both a trustee and chair within the voluntary and charitable sector, including Christian organisations supporting people experiencing homelessness and vulnerability.
Karen will start her new role on Wednesday 1st April 2026.
Karen Higgins will take on the role of Diocesan Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Diocesan Board of Finance. Karen brings over twenty years of senior leadership experience across the NHS, having worked at board and operational level to lead transformation in large, complex organisations.
In September we announced that Helen Platts, our Chief Operating Officer and Diocesan Secretary, will retire at the end of March. We remain deeply grateful for her exceptional leadership and service over the past seven years. We are now pleased to confirm the appointment of Helenās successor.
