These people really are completely fucking insane aren’t they? Having had flu I can’t help thinking that at the time my “war fighting capabilities” were somewhat weakened. What with the whole being unable to get out of bed for a fortnight and that. 🙄

The cyberattack on The British Library in October 2023 knocked out ebooks and almost ever other computer thing there for years.

Ebooks just came back. They were knocked out everywhere using the BL’s license (legal deposit libraries I think? More libraries?)

Distributed physical copies matter.

The River Lune. Millennium footbridge in the middle ground with its stanchions forming a distinctive “2 fingered salute”shape. Lancaster spreading up the hill behind it and catching the golden evening light. A bright blue sky behind with a scattering of fluffy clouds.

Disappointing to see the Paris Ultras unable to show even the tiniest bit of class during a single minute of silence to mark the deaths of 97 people.

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV (@Pontifex),
I condemn the insult to Your Excellency
on behalf of the great nation of Iran, and
declare that the desecration of Jesus, the
prophet of peace and brotherhood, is not
acceptable to any free person. I wish you
glory by Allah.

you know, I remember when "The President of the United States has publicly insulted the Pope and proclaimed himself Jesus" would have been 'bring-the-world-to-a-standstill' news, rather than just Monday.
