Today's deep-cut deity: Dike, the goddess of justice, good laws, rights and customs. She is shown here beating her counterpart Adikia (injustice) with a mallet. May all your rights be upheld and all your laws just. And failing that, may Dike come to your aid with a very large cosmic hammer.

Happy Canada Day. All “developed” countries are built on incredible violence. Boarders are one of humanity’s greatest failures. Our identities are only meaningful in relation to that which is foreign to us. No one is illegal. Arms embargo now!

My ugly words are coming to you with love ✌️ 🍁

Shaxs from Star Trek Lower Decks is pictured. He's a cartoon, because Lower Decks, besides being the best effing show ever, is a cartoon. Shaxs is a big burly man wearing his gold Star fleet uniform and also an apron over the front like he's doing some sort of art project or baking a nice sourdough. In each hand he's holding a broken bottle like that thing you do where you take a bottle and break off the bottom and then use it as a weapon. His eyeballs are bulging large, his brow is furrowed, and he looks absolutely unhinged with rage and anger. Closed caption reads, "Fighting fascism is a full time job!"

Everyone in the past was neurotypical, which is how we got things like this single-author, eight-volume encyclopedia of ferns

I got a job in a factory that makes Dracula figurines.

There’s only two of us on that line, so I have to make every second count.

Took my kiddo out to see the Minecraft movie today. It was h’EXPENSIVE.

All y’all should go to live theatre more often. Not only is it supporting your local economy, it’s also often cheaper and also better. If you live in or near a big enough city, there’s something for every taste.

As soon as tariffs became a threat, Mike started meeting with concerned community members, hosting a round-table with local businesses to gain local perspectives and advocate for them to be included in a Team Canada response.

Last week's turkey god got me thinking about other bird-related deities. Here's Nanshe, the Sumerian goddess of justice, dreams and marshlands, whose sacred bird was most probably the goose, as seen in the art! The Canada geese in Boston will be happy to hear they have proper god rep.

Today's deep-cut deity: Cybele, the Phrygian Mother Goddess (equivalent to Rhea). She was originally born a hermaphrodite named Agdistis, but the gods feared such a male/female being would be too powerful, so they "cut off the male organ." Stories of gender change & fluidity are as old as humanity.
