Our donation-based Tundra Award allows us to provide more opportunities for students and early career scientists to start their own journey at Toolik.
We gives awardees 10 days to conduct independent research at the station, so that they can focus more on their science & less on the logistics.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about big animals—🐋🐋🐋—but over the last year, I’ve had a chance to learn more about the big role of small critters. Like voles in the tundra carbon cycle 🐭(also my first attempt to write about biogeochemistry, gah).

Well we are not quite as chilly as Fairbanks or Cold foot here at @toolikfieldstation.bsky.social but it is still -40 out so it is pretty darn cold.
Today I spotted a small flock of ptarmigan browsing in the willows around the station and basking in the sunlight.
