My afternoon flight got canceled, and Qantas bumped me to an early morning flight instead... in a middle seat, no less.

Fine, I thought. It's just 90 min. I can endure. Yet nobody showed up for the other two seats. Entire row to myself! Is my flight karma *finally* restored? 🙏

Fight Club gets referenced a lot, too, usually with complete ignorance of its anti-capitalist theme.

Jaws. For many years after, I was scared of water. I feared sharks would come out of the swimming pool drains, even though I knew it was completely irrational to fear that.

This the part where I wrinkle my brow and say "my phone... has a wallet?"

Joke's on me. I got to the gate and suddenly the app refused to display my boarding pass - I evidently now needed to "review" my flight... but it offered no obvious way to do so.

I eventually had to go to the desk off to the side and get them to print my pass anyhow. Nice try, Mr. Gaider. 😔

Which is, unfortunately, AFTER the weekend and I'll be back at work. This really defies my preference for instant gratification.

I call "phone, wallet, keys" the Holy Trinity that I (almost always) check whenever I leave anywhere. And, you're right, during a trip my boarding pass would simply get added to that ritual.

My one big annoyance about this trip? Hades 2 released on consoles yesterday, which I'd been holding out for. I actually spent five whole minutes considering whether it'd be feasible to pack my PS5 and bring it with me.

Also, as a great start to this trip, I spent last night packing and fretting about every little thing only to realize just as the Uber was leaving that I'd forgotten my wallet.

Could be worse, I suppose. Could have realized this upon arriving at the airport. Or Hobart. 😵‍💫

This is my first time using a boarding pass that only exists in my phone. I know, I know, but after 30-odd years of frequent flying there's something concrete and comforting about having a printed pass I can hold onto. I keep feeling like I've misplaced something. 😅

I'm heading to Hobart tomorrow to speak at Level Up Tasmania. Any suggestions regarding what I should do or see while I'm there? I hear a lot of things about Tas, but... most of them can't be true, surely.

Summerfall is looking for a 3D character artist to assist us on a new prototype by sculpting a stylised character head and hair for a prototype, based on a Metahuman model. Interested? Send me your portfolio, via DM or email liam@summerfallstudios.com!

I’m so sorry for your loss, Katherine. It’s almost been 5 years since I lost Ajax, and I’m still not ready to move on. All the love to you and yours.

The scene of them picking Rocky’s voice was pretty great.

Saw Project Hail Mary. It's a great adaptation of the book, despite a couple of sections that they really condensed (and, even so, it was still 2 1/2 hours). A lot of fun, and the IMAX presentation was incredible. Interstellar meets E.T., according to @elieyoung.bsky.social, and I don't disagree.

And she's correct. In narrative design, obviously *someone* needs to come up with the ideas for the quest designs. Yet if those ideas aren't executed well, it doesn't really matter how great the idea behind it was. The main difference? Even a poor idea can be executed well enough to compensate.

There's a group of people, however, to whom "ideas" are solid gold: the tech bros themselves. That's because they haven't had a single solid idea between them for the last 20 years. In a group where inspiration simply doesn't exist, they consider it to be the only the only thing that has any value.

The way I see it, at least Baldwin's not playing a character that I have to pretend is nice or likeable. Indeed, his role is basically resident scumbag, and that's the kind of art-meets-life unity I can probably live with. I guess we'll find out.

Oh, I'd completely forgotten he was dead. Maybe jump a little ahead of the show and have Book already gone off to start his colony?

I wouldn't mind, honestly. The movie provided closure where there was none, but outside of that it's not really my fave. I doubt they'll go that route, but maybe with Joss Whedon out of the picture they could just declare this a new vision and onwards they go.

Here, we'll have to pretend that River is still a giant mystery that hasn't already been solved. And we don't get to see how Zoe rebuilds her life or how they all grow and change. Short of them declaring the movie non-canon, we know where they all end up and the suspense is kinda... gone.

Honestly, the most disappointing news about the Firefly reboot that I've heard is that it takes place before the 2005 Serenity movie and not after it. I realize this is probably so Wash and maybe Book can take part, but I kinda low-key loathe prequels.

No, you’re right. Should be either “Ferelden’s” or “Fereldan”. 😞

I'm hoping it's less that and more "sci fi is expensive", so it was easier to get funding this way.

So all that buildup and “It’s time?”/“It’s time.” was for an *animated* Firefly follow up series? 🤔

I mean, I guess I watched the Critical Role shows. And Invincible. And ST:Lower Decks. And Arcane.

Alright, fine. Consider me *begrudgingly* excited. Conditionally.

Notice articles out there making a meal of this, which was only meant to answer "would Ostagar have been won if Loghain didn't do what he did?"

From Loghain's view, it was the correct strategy. Was it the RIGHT thing to do? Hardly. And it didn't matter to the endgame as much as he'd hoped, anyhow.

Thanks! I figured that if I couldn't make it all about Kieran, I could at least make it about Morrigan - who the players at least knew, while Kieran they'd never met before.

A big part of the problem, for the team, is that the release date was always moving. If they'd known right from the start of the third version that they'd ship in Oct '24, they could have made bigger revisions and fixes... but release was always just around the corner, and they were scrambling.

No, he was correct. They were definitely going to lose. Just perhaps not as definitively as they did. Yet his retreat saved a bunch of Fereldan's forces which, otherwise, likely would have been decimated.
